Senior Legal Counsel

Purpose & Function Description:

 

Provide comprehensive strategic legal, business, and negotiation advice across multiple touch points in the organization, with a focus on Human Resources, Procurement, and Brand Marketing, through the following:  

 

  • Act as a strategic business partner and advisor to the organisation on employment law matters and commercial agreements with third parties
  • Provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive advice on employment law issues
  • Negotiate commercial agreements to ensure best terms and most valuable rights
  • At all times ensure a consistent and high standard for all internal standards and principles globally and within the local markets

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide employment law advice to Human Resources focused on locations in Portland, Oregon and Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Draft related policies and procedures. Conduct training on employment laws and best practices.  Manage employment litigation and agency charges.  
  • Negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial contracts – including non-trade procurement and marketing agreements
  • Provide expert guidance and advice on key, complex and high value agreements and draft relevant legal documents for Brand Marketing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strategic, visionary thinking and acting
  • Deep knowledge of employment laws
  • Extensive experience negotiating and drafting legal agreements, including marketing agreements
  • Flexible approach to problem solving with excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to independently exercise sound judgment, make good decisions, and perform with minimal supervision and imperfect or limited information
  • Cooperative, team-oriented approach with ability to excel within a highly collaborative team and able to build effective relationships within and outside of adidas
  • Professional, approachable with extensive cross-functional and intercultural experience

 

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • University law degree;
  • 8+ years of professional working experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
