Senior Manager, DC Management

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

  • Build up DC capability, capacity and oversee DC operations to provide superior services to HK and MC markets
  • Achieve service levels for OTIF shipments to customers (B2B & B2C), satisfy business requirements and meet financial targets, whilst ensuring cost control within agreed budget.
  • Work with internal and external cross functions to meet business targets.
  • Enhance productivity and cost effectiveness by making continuous improvement

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive DC strategy implementation and key initiatives. Plan and build up DC capability of all required service models (wholesale, retail, e-com, returns and re-distribution) and capacity (storage and throughput), and improve productivity/cost continuously to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Lead and manage the warehouse outsourced outbound & inbound team to meet daily requirements of all customer demands from receiving, put away, internal stock movement, picking, packing, shipping till the handover to 3PL as well as return handling.
  • Work closely with Planning team to understand forecasted volumes and priorities, and work together with Customs declaration team to monitor vendor’s Customs declaration performance.
  • Work with outsourced vendor to plan outsourced correctively inbound & outbound people and equipment resources accordingly, to achieve on time in full delivery of all customer orders.
  • Effectively manage shift patterns and number of staff employed through increasing / reducing temporary staff employed in a timely manner so as to achieve both customer service levels and productivity/cost KPI.
  • Responsible for DC Outbound SOP; take initiatives for making continuous enhancement in process/system.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to remedy customer needs while improving compliance, minimizing operating cost, and effecting greater customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain inventory integrity by working with Inventory Control team through the execution of effective cycle counting, and the strict adherence of established procedures utilizing MA systems. 
  • Develops, coordinates, and maintains a system for identification, evaluation of team and employee productivity rates utilizing MA systems tools and reports. 
  • Communicate effectively with all peers within the DC ensuring that short term targets are achieved and necessary long term improvements are shared and aligned.
  • Engage in and oversee an effective training process of all staff in the DC both at induction but also on going so as to achieve a high performance for both productivity and safety.
  • Ensure the site has good controls in place to provide a healthy and safe place of work for all staff. This includes assignment responsibilities to a number of key DC staff, to work closely with the site EHS, that covers training and ongoing compliance.
  • Develop mutual back-ups and succession plan; grow talents with coaching, feedback and more exposure.  Establish a high-performing, highly motivated team with a good control of employee turnover.
  • Oversee productivity and accuracy of DC operations, including receiving/put away, slotting, internal replenishment, picking, packing, A-grade and D-grade returns handling, sample management, as well as inventory and process control
  • Benchmark with the best-in-class in industry in service level, productivity and cost control.  Lead in Root-cause analysis and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement in reaching operations excellence.

  • DC Planning, OBF, Inbound Logistics, PO, HR/Admin, IT, Finance, SCI/LO/factories, BP&O, CSD, Own Retail, global Operations/CoE Logistics, other global functions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in communicating with senior business management and capability in maintaining important customer relationship
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams from concept to implementation
  • Effective communication skills to motivate a management team and a large workforce, as well as working across functions and with external parties (internal and external customers, 3PL, local government and authorities).
  • Understanding industry trend and dynamic business requirements to timely provide solutions to business.
  • Utilization of best-in-class practice as benchmark to make continuous improvement and reach operations excellence on service level, productivity, and cost against competition.

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above is required in technical field
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both Mandarin and English.
  • Minimum 10-years experience in warehouse management, including 3+ years in managing an automated/semi-automated, large-scale distribution facility, with in-depth knowledge of warehouse operations and broad experience in people management.
  • Minimum 3 years in managing a large work force of both office staff and blue-color workers
  • Solid experience in selecting and managing 3PLs.
