Senior Manager Finance, Future Capabilities & Process Enhancements (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The Corporate Controlling function plays an integral part in the financial steering of the company. It includes all aspects of management reporting, financial planning, budgeting and performance management on a company level. The analyses and reports provide transparency to the Executive Board and drive both operational and strategic decision making and resource allocation across our Global Sales (markets and channels) and Global Brands (product categories and marketing) matrix organization.

The general purpose of this position is to be a financial consultant for the Corporate Controlling organization by providing adequate reporting, analysis, recommendations and contributing to the preparation of Senior Management Information/Presentations to enable fact-based decision-making. The team drives further evolution and continuous improvement of the standard financials analysis and supports the development of state-of-the-art solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

• Support initiatives that will accelerate the adidas Finance organization’s Planning & Forecasting processes to the next level for the future, including, but not limited to machine-based forecasting, outlier analysis, and system-based forecasting tools.

• Enable fact-based and efficient decision-making process by providing comprehensive and insightful financial analysis and simulations (with to the point messaging on financials - actuals, trends and plans) and derived balanced recommendations to the Finance Senior Leadership/Executive Team

• Partner with finance experts to help enrich the machine-based forecast with relevant business drivers

• Support the Data and Analytics team in accuracy analysis of the machine-based forecasts, and in developing data quality checks.

• Drive small sized projects and take over an active role in medium sized projects, implement findings and ensure sustainability of achievements

• Drive the creation of regular and ad-hoc presentations

• Support execution of projects with strategic / transaction character as well as process and system upgrades

• Ability to work in a cross-functional environment, setting up structures and creating sustainable and meaningful reporting and analyses

• Run and further improve communication packages to present results, recommendations and solutions for business partners

• Drive best in class analytics, procedures and processes across relevant Corporate Controlling functions

• Ensure financial guidelines are respected, identify critical processes & recommend solutions

• Drive continuous improvement in the area of own responsibility

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Strong problem-solving skills (structuring, analysis, synthesis)

• Comprehensive business understanding of processes, structure and IT systems

• Good understanding of FP&A, controlling and finance; knowledge of IFRS is a plus

• Analytical mindset and facility with numbers

• Excellent analytical skills, managing large data quantities from multiple sources

• System expertise: excellent MS office skills, BI Software (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI)

• Ability to draw to-the-point conclusions and recommendations

• Demonstrated ability to work independently within a global and changing environment, including completion of tasks of different complexity levels

• Good planning and organization skills, including project management skills from initiation to closure

• Ability to mediate and bring cross-functional stakeholders with different objectives to agree on a consensus

• Strong interpersonal skills (stakeholder mgmt., influencing, executive presence)

• Process orientated and end-to-end mind set driven

• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

• Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project skills


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

• Advanced degree or qualification in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting

• Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience within Finance and/or Accounting

• Track record of outstanding performance in education and career
