Senior Manager Data Governance (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

 

Data Governance enables adidas to leverage the value of data for our digital transformation.

The team achieves that by defining the data governance and data quality frameworks, methods, and standards for business processes as well as IT systems. We design innovative data solutions along with new initiatives, consult projects and enforce data compliance together with our partners in Analytics, Business and Tech.

We take advantage of automation, machine learning and democratization of data to allow data-driven decision making even faster and more often and to unleash the real power of data right from the start.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Data Management

  • Provides advice on the transformation of data/information from one format or medium to another.
  • Enables the availability, integrity and searchability of information through the application of formal data and metadata structures and protection measures.

 

Information Governance

  • Understands the impact, meaning and implication of data for the end-to-end value chain and IT systems.
  • Takes decisions, reviews new change proposals and provides specialist advice on information and records management, including advice on and promotion of collaborative working and assessment and management of information-related risk.
  • Proactively influences priorities in other functions to establish stable and compliant data solutions.
  • Creates and maintains an inventory of information assets

 

 

 

Data Visualization

  • Creates meaningful storylines based on the best available visualization solution and communicates these to the target audience.
  • Contributes to establishing selected automated dashboards, controls and tools to monitor data flows and key performance indicators for data quality in close collaboration with the respective teams.
     
    Business Analysis
  • Investigates operational requirements, problems and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Consolidates findings as suitable input for data solution design and data quality management as well as controls quality of other assessments and data solution designs.
     

Specialist Advice

  • Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of their specialism(s) to the organization's planning and operations.
  • Collaborates with other specialists, where appropriate, to ensure advice given is appropriate to the needs of the organization.

  • Contributes to an inclusive and diverse team structure with equal opportunities for everyone to be able to manage the respective organization effectively and identify as well as develop the future talents
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT systems, data and analysis and team feedback and makes appropriate changes to meet business needs.
  • Provides team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and Data & Analytics objectives.

    Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration or IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of data management principles, frameworks, strategies and techniques
  • Proficient spoken and written command of English with persuasive communication skills
  • At least 7-year experience in Data Management / Data Governance or data affine business / IT functions (lateral entrants)
  • 2 years of experience in team management or leading workstreams and teams in a matrix organization
  • Managed critical elements and cross functional and regional projects
