Senior Manager Legal Operations Digital

As a Senior Manager Legal Operations Digital at adidas you are responsible for specific business processes run in our Digital channels affecting small to medium user groups. Your task is to drive standardization and continuous improvement of assigned processes in collaboration with markets and other business stakeholders. Furthermore, you will ensure that Digital and the content, product, campaign and other published material will be cleared to avoid legal risk and potential liabilities. Driving best practices, success criteria and contributing to a culture of operational excellence are just a few of the key activities that will be expected from this role. Additionally, you will be the key interface for local business stakeholders and markets affected by the processes within your area of responsibility.  


Key Responsibilities  


Day-to-Day Operations 

  • Review & give clearance to digital concept and content elements (campaign taglines, product descriptions, key visuals, videos and other marketing and advertising materials and contents) for all concept and content creation projects delivered by China digital team to ensure full compliance with local and international laws.               

  • Provide legal counselling & support for China consumer engagement and digital activation initiatives, including but not limited to the mechanisms, consumer journeys, T&Cs and other communications of various campaigns, hype launches and membership programs. 

  • Draft, negotiate and review a variety of legal documents & contracts for China digital business as assigned from time to time. 

  • Support day-to-day issue resolution and operations within your scope of responsibility. 


Governance and Process 

  • Conduct regular and ad hoc internal audits of general digital operations from legal and compliance perspective whenever assigned. 

  • Manage and steer the setup of end-to-end governance mechanism to ensure overall compliance of the general digital operations with applicable laws and regulations, and work with global and local departments to define and align processes within your scope of responsibility. 

  • Formalize and document the defined processes (including to draft guidelines and policies when needed) to provide transparency and sustained clarity for all stakeholders. 

  • Continous monitoring and analysis of respective processes. Identify improvement opportunities and define respective solutions. 

  • Conduct process reviews involving all relevant stakeholders to collect appropriate feedback and define/enrich a backlog of improvements. 

  • Define change requests for new functionalities in sufficient detail for qualification and solution selection. Document their implementation. 


Best Practices 

  • Contribute and drive standard best practices and control methods. 

  • Drive best practice communication and design, develop, and deliver trainings throughout the organization regarding your area of responsibility.

Education & Experience  

  • Degree with focus on Legal, Compliance/Governance, Business Administration or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 8+ years of experience in a Digital and/or eCommerce environment 

  • Advanced knowledge in respective domain (e.g. Copyright, Payments, Consumer Engagement etc.) 



  • Very good communication skills & negotiation skills, comfortable presenting complex topics to stakeholders at various organizational levels both in person and remotely 

  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills, solutions-oriented approach and entrepreneurial mindset 

  • Ability to handle ambiguity and untangle complex situations into actionable activities 

  • Strong Decision Making, Action Planning, and Prioritization Skills; Distinctive strategic mindset and ability to prioritize and delegate high numbers of tasks with varying workload and importance 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with different international cultures 

  • Strong Organisation Skills 



  • Comfortable working with enterprise-level platforms and technologies 

  • Project management and project monitoring experience 

  • Knowledge of process optimization methodologies (LEAN, 6Sigma, etc…) is a plus 

  • Fluent Mandarin & English both verbally and written
