Senior Manager Pattern Apparel (Minimal Waste) (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

Lead and manage pattern and fit excellence with a focus on minimal-waste pattern making to reduce textile product environmental impact.

Look into design of garments that minimise waste in their production using creative pattern cutting and design methods.

Act as a strong advocate for minimal waste apparel creation by working closely with cross functional teams as well as all related support services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement Pattern creation, grading and design methods for minimal waste design and garment production.
  • Create and maintain playbook with proposals and processes on yield and waste optimization for design / development teams across business units.
  • Deliver designs and samples on a seasonal basis during exploratory design phase across multiple product types to support minimal waste and showcase findings during maker phase.
  • Stay on trend and educate the team with latest resource and design expression available in the industry through workshops and lectures.
  • Build strong partnership with cross functional teams including horizontal and sourcing functions to ensure the achievement of goals and objectives set by the project team.
  • Take responsibility for the research of new pattern creation methodologies and robust design models, driving improvements by implementing new technologies into the pattern process
  • Analyze patterns from design concept & proactively communicate pattern efficiencies and project progress to stakeholders.
  • Ensure availability of graded patterns & multiple size markers as needed throughout the development process
  • Provide alternative pattern design options for selected range to maximize yield efficiency at the start of each season across Sportswear & Training.
  • Review submitted T1 Markers & communicate options and suggestions for improvements according to development calendar timelines with design, development & T1s.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and facilitation (small and large groups) skills
  • Ability to deliver effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to diverse audiences
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate and define problems, synthesize complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Ability to think end-to-end with a global mindset
  • Ability to manage through change, make decisions and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty
  • Ability to provide a clear framework for performance to direct reports
  • Ability to coach, guide, manage and develop cross functional team
  • Good understanding of sourcing allocation impact on product from a quality and cost perspective
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong IT skills (MS office, PDM, CAD )
  • Expert in Gerber/Lectra/Clo 3D or other pattern softwear
  • Travel, domestic and international as required by business needs


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year college or university degree with emphasis on clothing technology and/or manufacturing
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive work experience in the garment/textile industry
