Senior Manager Procurement Retail (m/f/d)

Purpose:

 

This position sits within the EMEA Marketing Procurement team.

The individual will be responsible for the RETAIL portfolio procurement management within EMEA (Europe, EM & CIS)

 

  • The development and execution of strategic procurement activities for the responsible category in alignment with senior management and relevant business partners
  • Support the implementation of Global and Regional strategies for the cluster(s) as well as developing own local strategies and value creation opportunities
  • Regional procurement representative and subject matter expert, working closely with other cross functional teams including finance and legal teams to deliver and support all areas of supplier life cycle management
  • Deliver committed annual Procurement savings targets and other objectives such as increasing payment terms, supply base rationalization, PO automation
  • To ensure that commercial and business relationships and engagements suppliers are managed according to policies, commercial, risk management and procurement category-related best practices.
  • Day to day management and support of the GBS Tactical Buyers for the cluster(s), supporting the project initiation and strategy with local stakeholders, ensuring successful delivery of projects
  • Manage cluster compliance with policies, strategies, and processes, use of MI and assisting with reporting requests and updates (PO compliance, e-sourcing adoption, vendor rationalization, NTPD database hygiene, financial and legal policy and risk management)
  • Effective stakeholder management to maximize total cost of ownership savings and Procurement’s value contribution, championing best practice and driving buy-in
  • Supplier relationship management and contract management activities, involvement in full supplier life cycle activities
  • To ensure that commercial and business relationships and engagements with suppliers are handled according to policies, legislation, risk management and procurement category-related best practices.
  • Lead overarching procurement strategy & develop business case for sustainable performance

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and develop the Retail categories across EMEA (Europe, CIS & EM). Be accountable for the team’s savings delivery according to the mutually defined targets
  • Lead procurement strategy implementation and e-sourcing adoption of the team
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams in defined procurement and general development projects as well as pro-actively support other team members in their tasks and activities. Oversee the supplier selection processes of the team including RfX planning and execution in alignment with business partners driving the work and efforts of a cross-functional sourcing team in all stages of a strategic sourcing project including contract negotiation. Implement best practices for supplier selection and fact-based negotiations as per adidas negotiation methodology. Deliver the required negotiation outcomes and savings.
  • Work with Procurement leads in Global teams to implement and activate contracts. Support the tactical buying team with opportunity identification and project planning, achieve ‘buy in’ with regional/local stakeholders for procurement initiatives.
  • Lead contract implementation and drive contract compliance on a regional basis. Ensure clear understanding, implementation & role modelling of savings methodology & reporting within the team
  • Define P2P and buying channel strategies, identify and consider automation potential and P2P/ channel effectiveness
  • Enable and ensure transparency of spend and drive for optimization of efficiency (procedures and cost) in collaboration with the adidas Finance function and related stakeholders
  • Build business relationships and effectively partner with the relevant stakeholders of the procurement categories within the adidas Group and the related supplier base

  • Internal: Global / Regional Procurement team, Global Business Services and tactical buying team, Key Business Stakeholder Functions (Marketing); Key Business Partners (Legal, Finance, etc.)
  • External: Suppliers & Agencies: Executives, Key Account Managers & Legal Council

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Advanced knowledge in sourcing and procurement methodologies and concepts, business partnering and category management (7 steps strategic sourcing, TCO, fact-based negotiations, life cycle of products/services etc.)
  • Experience across indirect spend categories particularly marketing & retail categories
  • Strong knowledge of procurement tools and data, content and automation (E-sourcing -ariba-, p2p - Ariba-, e-catalogues, buying channels, etc…). Experience in deployment & implementation of end to end procurement software tools (SAP Ariba Buying)
  • Proven expertise streamlining and improving procurement processes and systems, development of procurement category strategies
  • Strong track record of delivering sustainable savings which hit the bottom line
  • Strong ability to analyze data, specifications and influence demand
  • Experience in developing business cases to support investments
  • Experience in working with procurement shared service centres
  • Capability to independently interact throughout the adidas Group and to work with virtual teams
  • Strong analytical, presentation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to operate at pace and respond positively to change
  • Action oriented and solution minded team player with high degree of self-management
  • Proficiency in MS Office and preferably SAP MM/ SRM & Ariba
  • Fluent in English, to a business standard, spoken and written
  • Travel of up to 25%

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • A degree from an accredited college or university (Bsc./Msc.) with emphasis on the areas of business, economics, finance, procurement or legal, or comparable professional education
  • CIPS (completed or studying towards)
  • Minimum 6 – 8  years experience in a procurement role, minimum 3-4 years experience in a strategic procurement position (manager level or above) with project/strategic sourcing experience and knowledge of category management practices; strong experience across all stages of supplier selection, negotiation and contracting.
  • Experience in a global / matrix structure, working with shared service centres is desired
  • Experience of managing and developing teams of a similar size
  • Fluent English is essential, other languages are advantageous.
