Senior Manager Sports Marketing - Olympics

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

To lead, internally and externally, the adidas brand in the world of Olympic & Paralympic sport. To manage with excellence our partnerships with the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association, delivering the best product for the relevant Summer and Winter Games and all other tertiary Games and Festivals, and to drive the activation and fulfilment of our contractual rights to position adidas as being the most innovative and inspirational brand to the creator athlete.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To represent adidas professionally and diligently across all relevant functions of the BOA and BPA including Client Services, Games Services, Marketing, and with all relevant contacts across the Summer/Winter Olympic/Paralympic National Governing Bodies, and with the Olympic and Paralympic sponsor family
  • To work closely with the adidas Global Olympic BU, the SMSU and the relevant third-party suppliers to provide a best-in-class kit delivery to the BOA and BPA across the calendar of Games and Festivals
  • To provide a kit package that is fit for purpose for the BOA & BPA; covering the various competition and non-competition needs, remaining IOC and IF compliant, delivered on time and in full, and within the contractual budget
  • Build strong working relationships with the Sports Marketing Specialist(s) supporting Olympics and external contacts ensuring that the specific needs of our sports marketing contracts are met
  • To manage a complex ‘Gift of Kit’ budget across multiple years and multiple Games, working closely with the Finance function
  • To work with the wider Marketing Function to build a range that aligns with and best supports a Licensed Product offering, and highlights where relevant key technologies and franchises on and off the field of play
  • To coordinate the design and delivery of a high profile kit launch PR moment with Newsroom and Brand Communication teams
  • To design, build, manage and operate a kitting out facility for each Summer and Winter Games
  • To support the BOA and BPA onsite at each Olympic/Paralympic Summer/Winter Games ensuring all product needs are catered for, and both bodies and their athletes are compliant and free from infringements and to coordinate Games time activations with athletes
  • Create and fluidly manage an Olympic and Paralympic athlete and partner portfolio, aligned with Global and local stakeholders, to achieve the category brand objectives.
  • Identify, secure and contract athletes and partners in keeping with the CAF process, integrated with Brand Communications, Newsroom and other internal stakeholders to ensure high levels of activation
  • Service athletes with correct and timely product and relationship needs
  • Manage all Olympic athlete and partner budgets; Retainers (including GBP and local bonuses) Gift of Kit, Activation and Travel & Expenses
  • Management of next generation talent scouting program to effectively build succession planning for the Olympic portfolio

Professional Background

  • 5+ years rounded marketing experience is essential
  • Evident experience in the business of sport preferred, with a knowledge of the world of Olympic and Paralympic sports in particular
  • Experience managing relationships with a variety of different stakeholders
  • Experience managing complex projects
  • A genuine passion and enthusiasm for sport
  • Strong cross-functional experience across marketing and sales
