Senior Manager Climate Change (GOPS Central Sustainability Team) (m/f/d)

PURPOSE

The sustainability team at adidas creates sustainability intelligence and enablers to create transparency and informed decisions. This team is giving guidance to the company to the current 2025 sustainable business plan implementation and giving the direction on beyond 2025 sustainability topics.  

The team is made up of talented and passionate sustainability experts with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are at the forefront of influencing and shaping the sustainability journey of adidas and of the sporting goods industry overall. Working across all functions and creating next generation impactful and innovative sustainability strategy. 

 

  • Support adidas on its journey to net zero and play its role in reducing the impacts of climate change
  • Oversee quantitative analysis of projects and programs that will contribute to adidas’ decarbonization roadmap
  • Work cross-functionally across the global business to implement and track the success of decarbonization initiatives
  • Review and tracking of adidas Science Based Targets

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Technical development of strategic carbon reporting strategies, aligning with frameworks such as SBTi, CDP & GRI
  • Work with the in-house Technology Team to design and create industry leading carbon footprint measurement and management software solutions
  • Provide the cross-functional teams with carbon footprint analysis, with focus on our material and product assembly supply chain
  • Guide external partners, especially suppliers, to provide credible energy and carbon data
  • Develop technical guidelines and trainings for the cross-functional teams regarding carbon footprint reductions and other critical sustainability topics
  • Contribute to impact related external working-groups of partner organizations and industry associations

KNOWLEDGE, CAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong understanding of and experience with carbon accounting frameworks, net zero strategies and Science Based Targets
  • Experience in company-wide data collection and analysis of energy and carbon footprint data
  • Creative approach solving complex problems
  • Comfortable communicating complex topics in a clear and concise manner to senior leadership
  • Strong knowledge in environmental science, carbon footprint measurements and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)
  • Strong knowledge in sustainability data analytics
  • Advanced cross industry expert network in carbon footprint measurement and decarbonization
  • Good project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and ability to work with project teams in a cross-functional environmental across the world
  • Knowledge of footwear, apparel and accessories materials and manufacturing is desirable
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Four-year university degree, preferably master’s degree in environmental science, environmental economics, or related sustainability fields
  2. Minimum 7 years’ work experience in sustainability, with at least 3 years focus on carbon footprint analysis, reporting and carbon reduction strategies
