Senior Manager Tax - International Tax (mfd)

PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANISATION

The overall objective of Corporate Tax is to create value for the global enterprise, business units, and shareholders by maximizing corporate profitability through minimizing overall tax burden while executing and directing compliance to conform with all legal frameworks in preserving the Company’s reputation and integrity.

The Corporate Tax team is responsible for managing the group’s tax risk positions and governing the tax compliance. The Senior Manager Tax is responsible for ensuring that applicable tax law regulations are complied with. In this role it is essential to develop understanding of the tax impacts certain transactions or business initiatives might have to be able to liaise and support the specialist functions driving the initiatives (e.g., sales, brand, and supply chain management teams). In this regard the position will need to interact with a wide range of business counterparts, and it is essential to create awareness for aligning business decisions with Corporate Tax in advance, as well as creating, maintaining, and updating corresponding tax policies and guidelines.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Partnering & Communication

  • Contribute to business projects, including through the evaluation of possible tax implications of new business models and new supply chain processes, provision of expert advice on international tax, transfer pricing and/ or indirect tax matters to cross-functional project teams and supporting the planning and implementation of business initiatives.
  • Act as a main point of contact from the tax function on business projects. Ensuring subject matter tax specialists are informed and involved when required.
  • Communicate / present complex factual or tax matters clearly and concisely in verbal and written form, including to stakeholders with little or no tax experience.
  • Partner with and support business teams (e.g., sales, brand, and supply chain management teams), identifying tax issues, providing insights and options for decision makers to consider.
  • Improve business decision making by providing holistic tax transparency on business projects.
  • Lead projects/initiatives, implement resulting findings/process enhancements and ensure sustainability of outcomes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Broad theoretical and practical experience across multiple tax disciplines including general corporate tax, transfer pricing, international tax and/ or indirect tax gained in the tax department of large multinational or international consultancy firm
  • Team player with strong interpersonal & excellent communication skills for influencing others
  • Ability to maneuver in consistently changing environment with regard to adidas business processes as well as constantly changing tax laws and focus on areas with highest impact
  • Experience with SAP applications or similar
  • Strong competence in use of standard MS Office tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Business in English (written and spoken)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University / Master’s degree in Business Administration / Finance / Accounting / Economics or similar, preferably with focus on tax
  • 5 -7 years of experience with corporate taxation either within a consulting or industry environment.
