Senior Manager Footprint Analysis/Senior Manager Sustainability (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

Workplaces is responsible for the active management of the Global Real Estate Portfolio including leases and transactions of all the properties, all design, construction and operations for offices, showrooms and DC’s for adidas.

The Senior Manager Workplace Governance - Footprint for Sustainability Own Operations leads the evaluation, analysis and reporting of environmental, energy, health & safety targets and supports operational sustainability targets for Own Operations (administration offices, distribution centers, production sites, own retail stores) globally and contributes significant activities and input for carbon neutrality in Own Operations. This role is critical for the sustainability strategy execution for adidas Own Operations under the 2025 target framework, directly feeding into the companies’ sustainability performance and reputation.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the own operations footprint data analytics (internal reporting & dashboards)
  • Responsible for regular and ad-hoc target achievement evaluation, prepare data analysis for internal and external reports and Senior Management proposals which require strategic evaluation or direction
  • Execute strategy of the department globally within own functional area by understanding culture while ensuring consistency
  • Lead the Green Company Report & Annual Report
  • Lead reporting into sustainability rankings such as CDP and DJSI
  • Lead initiatives to implement new KPI and data structures to deliver against ISO 50001 (Energy)
  • Drive improvement of reporting towards challenging standards, coverage and data verification
  • Develop, establish and govern the annual footprint reporting process for corporate and own retail stores by developing, implementing and governing footprint relevant data, mainly energy and carbon emission data
  • Ensure the policy compliant data collection in a central data base and alignment with other relevant internal systems to gather data from (e.g. master data) or to input data into other systems (e.g. corporate footprint tool)
  • Responsible for the preparation of and participation in data audits for all footprint relevant data (water, waste, health & safety)
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of own retail specific carbon emission system and process with markets for co2 / energy saving including evaluations for savings per market and/or other metrics
  • Ensure input for SBP Decarbonization strategy, Annual Report, CDP, DJSI, and general strategic target setting on a global and market level
  • Support budget allocation for sustainability projects by delivering relevant analysis and direction
  • Support annual process of Integrated Management System roll-out and audits by providing relevant building or location specific data from the footprint tools to the relevant team
  • Lead footprint relevant trainings of market counterparts for policy compliant data gathering, support further internal trainings of employees for footprint relevant topics with regards to education & activations for Sustainability (e.g. carbon emissions in own operations)

 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven LCA evaluation and/or environmental footprint reporting experience  
  • Proven expertise in data analytics, complex data evaluation and verification methods including software and other specific technology to automize data submission and streamline data processes, systems and build relevant strategies
  • Strategic mindset and ability to provide clear and fact-based directions in sustainability
  • Proactive collaboration and communication with critical stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate and influence at executive level
  • Ideally experience in and knowledge of IT systems relevant for footprint data
  • System expertise: Microsoft Office; knowledge in Smartsheet, Sharepoint, footprint & energy monitoring software solutions, content management tools is a plus
  • Business fluency in English (written and spoken)

 


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience, preferably working in the Sustainability area of a global player in the sporting goods industry or facilities management
  • University degree (or equivalent) for footprint relevant studies (e.g. LCA, climate, carbon emission)
  • Solid knowledge of the sustainability collective action and partnership initiatives such as Science Based Target initiative, UNFCCC Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, etc.
  • Knowledge of environmental footprint standards, e.g. GHG Protocol
  • Deep understanding of sustainability issues, positions, and trends. Experience with corporate sustainability standards, from environmental footprint to reporting
  • Robust experience with and knowledge of data integrity and reporting process governance principles as well as corporate data reporting systems and processes
  • Knowledge about IMS of relevant standards (ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 45001) is a plus
