Sr Manager, Outbound Transportation (ECommerce/Small Parcel)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

 

This position is responsible for the overall US Outbound customer delivery process at adidas, ensuring optimal service is provided to both internal and external customers in our eCommerce, Retail and Wholesale business channels.  The responsibility includes all aspects of the customer delivery experience for shipments fulfilled by our US distribution centers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

•            Drive the execution of our transportation strategy. Ensure deliveries to customers occur on-time and on-budget.

•            Act as a liaison between carriers, internal NAM stakeholders and the NAM Transportation team to ensure service levels are met and costs are minimized.

•            Develop and implement effective processes for outbound transportation from the viewpoint of the customer.

•            Build relationships and collaborate with people and teams throughout adidas.

•            Partner with DTC and Omni planning teams to drive Delivery Promise accuracy, reduce transportation cycle time, and continuously improvement OTIF performance for all business channels.

•            Ensure seamless business harmonization between the US Distribution and Outbound Transportation functions.

•            Develop, implement and monitor KPI’s to measure delivery quality and improve performance of domestic parcel and non-parcel carriers.

•            Manage and develop subordinates to ensure achievement of department objectives and provide leadership & guidance to the transportation team.

•            Identify opportunities to reduces transportation-related chargebacks (WHS), and partner with supplier compliance team to execute.

 

 

 

Key Relationships:

 

•            Internally: Retail Store Operations, e-Commerce, DTC, Omni, Distribution, Sales, CS,  Finance, Transportation and Finance teams

•            Externally: All domestic carriers (contracted and non-contracted), Logistics Service providers, key customers

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

•            Strong commercial business acumen and communication skills

•            Ability to influence others and gain buy-in without direct authority

•            Excellent knowledge of the domestic transportation business and market in the US

•            Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within their function and cross-functionally to deliver against shared objectives

•            Know when to turn ideas into action and ensure proper scrutiny and validation of new concepts

•            Demonstrate capability to convert strategy into delivery by working through others to meet targets

•            Use data and relevant business measures to increase team productivity and deliver on strategic intent. Has a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MS Access, MicroStrategy, and Tableau

•            Ability to think end to end and thorough understanding of relationships between WH operations, domestic transportation function and customers

•            Ability to focus on operational delivery and translate strategic direction into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

•            Basic knowledge of how warehouse and transportation management systems work.

•            Must have strong communications and presentation skills to conduct meetings and make presentations to direct manager and project teams

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

 

•            College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Engineering, Logistics & Transportation, Supply Chain Management

•            8 or more years of experience in the Domestic Transportation or logistics industry

•            Deep knowledge of high-volume small parcel operations supporting eCommerce, Retail Stores, and/or Direct to Consumer (DTC) operations
