Sr. Manager IT Innovation (m/f/d)



IT innovation is responsible for the capability to identify, prioritize, incubate and exploit opportunities provided by information, communication and digital technologies. It develops and implements processes, tools and infrastructures to support innovation.


We are looking for a motivated manager with an excellent track record in Manufacturing Execution Systems, Automation, and applied IT skills with a profound understanding of manufacturing processes and tools. Within our professional and highly motivated team, you will be in charge of managing the development of the manufacturing equipment links with the IT systems and managing the respective vendors being on the steering wheel to shape the future of Digital Manufacturing.  

You will manage and deliver mid-scale projects or, sub-elements of larger-scale projects on a local or global level across brands and respective functions within the boundaries of time, cost & quality while focusing on the customers’ expectations and requirements. 



Key Responsibilities:



  • Manages the innovation pipeline and executes innovation processes.
  • Develops, evolves and adapts innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation.
  • Identifies resources and capabilities needed to support innovation.
  • Encourages and motivates innovation communities, teams and individuals to share creative ideas and learn from failures.
  • Manages and facilitates the communication and open flow of creative ideas between interested parties and the set-up of innovation networks and communities.



  • Builds on and refines appropriate outline ideas for the evaluation, development, demonstration and implementation of research.
  • Contributes to research goals and funding proposals.
  • Collects and analyses qualitative and quantitative data as required.
  • Creates research reports to communicate research methodology, findings and conclusions.
  • Presents papers at conferences, contribute significant sections of material of publication quality, and presents reports to clients.
  • Contributes to research plans and identifies appropriate opportunities for publication and dissemination of research findings.
  • Makes an active contribution to research communities.




Knowledge management

  • Organizes knowledge assets and oversees the lifecycle of identifying, capturing, classifying, storing and maintaining assets.
  • Facilitates sharing, collaboration and communication of knowledge.
  • Monitors the use and impact of knowledge; interrogates existing knowledge content to identify issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Implements specific knowledge management initiatives.


Emerging technology monitoring

  • Supports monitoring of the external environment and assessment of emerging technologies to evaluate the potential impacts, threats and opportunities to the organization.
  • Contributes to the creation of reports, technology road mapping and the sharing of knowledge and insights.


Project management

  • Defines, documents and carries out small projects or sub-projects (typically less than six months, with limited budget, limited interdependency with other projects, and no significant strategic impact), alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases.
  • Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.
  • Applies appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.
  • Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances.
  • Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.



Requirements definition and management

  • Contributes to selection of the requirements approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity.
  • Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritization of requirements.
  • Reviews requirements for errors and omissions.
  • Establishes the requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
  • Investigates, manages, and applies authorized requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy.


Relationship management

  • Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan.
  • Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.
  • Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management.
  • Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.


Business Analysis

  • Investigates operational needs and problems, and opportunities, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes and organization.
  • Assists in defining acceptance tests for these recommendations.



Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:


  • Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration or IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient spoken and written command of English
  • At least 7-year experience in IT
  • 5 years of experience in relevant area
    • strong background in manufacturing control systems, tools, and ecosystems (PLC, SCADA and MES) 
    • Strong background in industrial network and machine to machine communication (Profibus, ProfiNet, Ethercat, OPC UA , etc.) 

    • Robot Programming and Simulation (OLP) 

    • Mechatronic (conveyors and robot sync) 

    • Previously worked on the definition and development of manufacturing equipment, software, and robotic cells. 

    • C/C++ and Python (basic to intermediate level) 

    • IoT (Mindpshere will be a plus) 

    • IoT sensors 

    • RFID is a plus 

  • Strong understanding & knowledge of regional and global market landscape and the respective customer
