Sr. Manager Sales Finance (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:


The position-holder, supported by a senior business analyst, manages all financial planning and analysis activities for the Market Global Specialty Sales, identifies risks and opportunities and contributes to the achievement of the organization’s short & long-term financial goals.

The small team manages and guides the P&L and OWC budget, forecasting and consolidation processes for Global Specialty Sales. The role is driving consistency and alignment of planning and reporting for the market in alignment with globally defined planning processes. In addition, cross-functional activities such as establishing a consistent reporting environment and optimizing cost efficiency are key responsibilities of this position. The role ensures financial and non-financial managers are provided top notch and highly relevant information, analysis, and trade-off alternatives for their business decisions.


The second cornerstone of this role is to support the Global Wholesale Channel in the execution of their Strategy through KPI tracking and to drive operational commercial performance in close collaboration with the business teams (e.g. Orderbook Conversion, Customer/Key account growth, Customer profitability & Trade term initiatives)



Key Responsibilities:


People management:

• Recruit & manage direct reports and (if required) propose structural changes for the Global Specialty Sales Finance team

• Set clear objectives for direct reports and delegate + prioritize tasks

• Responsible for the full Performance Management Cycle and set environment for performance

• Involved in Compensation structure of the team


Finance Lead of Market Global Specialty Sales:

• Build a solid business understanding to manage the Global Specialty Sales business together with the VP Global Specialty Sales covering all of the financial aspects, especially focusing on the profitability of the business

• Manage the P&L, Operating Working Capital and Cashflow for Global Specialty Sales

o Drive the adidas Group financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and Integrated business planning (IBP) process based on the group guidelines

o Identify new business opportunities through regular sales analysis supporting the sales business teams

o Manage the Global Specialty Sales overall budget to ensure proper target setting, achievement and forecast accuracy

• Derive solutions, give recommendations and facilitate decisions through identifying significant improvement potential based on variance analysis

• Develop and implement adequate communication packages towards the business partners for month-end figures as well as forecasts and budget

• Educate the Sr. Management business team to read financial data and act upon it

• Mange the credit management of the accounts together with the credit management team, follow up on bad payers, define credit limits/ bank guarantees, evaluate accounts from a financial perspective prior to their onboarding

• Support BPM creation incl. Store investment Business cases for Own Retail stores and Franchise. Sign-off package creation regarding financials and evaluate data and drive decision making process

• Manage complex projects, evaluate findings, prepare reports and make recommendations to senior management about the financial implications of proposed investments or transactions

• Ensure strong communication lines/ permanent information flow towards Market Finance

• Ensure deadlines by CPPM (Corporate Planning & Performance Management) are met for data submissions in a proper quality

• Drive compliance with Group Policies Manual, tax guidelines etc. & ensure accounting/ data consistency

• Ensure that internal controls are adequate/ reliable, weaknesses identified/ rectified

• Contribute to the development of financial strategies for a division/ department that align with the organization’s overall vision and its current and long terms business objectives

• Lead, direct, evaluate and develop direct reports to ensure financial planning and analysis are conducted credibly and that recommendations and reports are accurate and timely


Finance Business Partner to Global Wholesale team

• Co-pilot with SVP Global Sales WHS on the execution of the strategy and growth ambition

• Define and ensure sustainable implementation of an innovative KPI framework that support steering the business holistically (e.g. financial/non-financial KPIs, Sales key drivers, Cost ratios etc.); ensure that they are followed beyond own area of responsibility Global & Market

• Financial support through co-creation of relevant / holistic KPIs framework, Dashboards and financials tools/capabilities

• Drive and support medium and large size projects with Business Partners for all financial aspects consistently in the light of Wholesale strategy transformation

• Drive continuous improvement of entire processes/systems and ensure that they are followed supporting transformation and Channel Wholesale ambition


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Comprehensive business understanding of processes and structure

• Ability to manoeuvre in consistently changing environment

• Ability to operate cross-functionally (omnichannel, sales, brand) and understanding of external business drivers. Thorough understanding of the complexity, interactions and dynamics within an international business area

• Very good communication skills for persuasion and convincing others both internally and externally

• Ability to coach, guide, manage, and develop direct reports

• Ability to think and act strategically and develop operational plans

• Excellent analytical skills, managing large data quantities from multiple sources

• Comprehensive understanding of system landscape

• Business fluency in English (written and spoken)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

• University degree in Finance or Accounting

• CPA and/or MBA preferred

• 7-10 years related experience

• Industry specific experience strongly preferred

• Managerial experience preferred

• Advanced excel skills required

• Familiarity with SAP and BI or other ERP/reporting software preferred
