Assistant Manager, Site EHS
Purpose:
The EHS Assistant Manager will be responsible for partnering with the DC Operations teams in Suzhou to execute company health and safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable global, regional, and local regulations; promote continuous improvement initiatives to achieve global H&S targets and reduce potential safety and occupational health/ergonomic risks in DC daily operation to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our employees and associates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handles execution of all written safety programs and policies as per global IMS standard and local regulations.
- Establish and maintain all records and documentation in compliance with local government and ISO 14001/45001/50001 standards.
- Conduct risk assessment and site inspection, associate staff behaviours and processes to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate, consistent and compliant.
- Develop local training matrix and content, facilitate or deliver required health and safety orientation, specific safety training and awareness sessions for all employees.
- Facilitate regular safety committee meeting and management review meeting.
- Assist in capturing, analysing, and reacting to safety metrics/reviews and incident/near miss trends to discover patterns on areas where the safety risk is the highest.
- Assist in preparing required plans and appropriate site workplace operating procedures.
- Keep site operations team informed of the latest health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all health and safety incidents and accidents are reported within the stipulated time. Lead accident investigations, perform root cause analysis for all injuries and “near misses.”
- Leverage operation resources to lead continual improvement initiatives in reducing risk in processes and ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for all employees.
- Ensure vendors, contractors and third-party employees are compliant with global and local H&S standards.
- Response to all work-related injury & illness emergency in offices.
- Plan and implement required healthcare programs for all office employees, including but not limited to health lecture, annual health check-up, etc.
- Participate as site representative in global H&S programs and initiatives.
- Share and implement best practices.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned to support the organization.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of safety, environmental and occupational health/ergonomic standards and regulatory that impact operations.
- Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments.
- Must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing.
- Spend time at the site and seek input from workplace and operation teams and head of the site on health and safety program improvement opportunities.
- Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution against these suggestions.
- Experience interacting with cross functional teams.
- Strong coordination, organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to be flexible regarding shifts.
Requisite Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Management or a related field as well as a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Experience implementing ISO 14001 and 45001 system and/or 5S/lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
- Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with mix of contract and temporary employees at a site of at least 500 people preferred.
- Certified Safety Engineer and/or ISO 14000/9000/18000 systems internal or external auditor preferred.
