Technology Consultant - BI

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The role of the Technology Consultant is responsible for the planning, installing and for the configuration of software solutions and systems. It is capable to support employees with specific applications and provides expert advisory. The role analyses information systems of adidas and individualizes specific system solutions to meet the demand of the business.


Acting in a key relationship management capacity to provide a conduit between adidas Group IT teams and key business stakeholders to ensure adidas Group BI and Emerging Markets BI information technology needs are managed consistently, following professional IT and global standards, and delivered with a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.


As BI Business solutions manager your key role will be to Create, Support & Drive sustainable BI solutions for Emerging Markets. In this role you will work in a sophisticated data centric environment managing end to end all applications & processes influencing BI. You will define the rules of the game for development of thoughtful robust Reporting and Analytics applications, setting and enforcing standards for solution stability, maintainability, quality, and compliance. You will apply and provide consultancy to your team on designing, development, deployment and usage of data lakes, data integration, harmonization, distribution. You will be the key point of contact to consult Business BI team and manage their demands and support in driving one version of truth. You will ensure Business Intelligence (BI) information technology needs are managed consistently within the boundaries of time, cost and quality while managing stakeholder expectations and driving customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:


Business analysis

  • Investigates operational needs and problems, and opportunities, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes and organisation.
  • Assists in defining acceptance tests for these recommendations.


Requirement’s definition and management

  • Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for small[1]scale changes and assists with more complex change initiatives.
  • Follows agreed standards, applying appropriate techniques to elicit and document detailed requirements.
  • Provides constructive challenge to stakeholders as required.
  • Prioritises requirements and documents traceability to source.
  • Reviews requirements for errors and omissions.
  • Provides input to the requirements baseline.
  • Investigates, manages, and applies authorised requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy.


Porting/software configuration

  • Assists in the configuration of software and equipment and the systems testing of platform specific versions of one or more software products.
  • Documents faults, implements resolutions and retests to agreed standards.


Application support

  • Identifies and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures.
  • Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
  • Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.


People Management / Resource Management

  • May be involved and gives some input on hiring Transition decisions
  • Ensures appropriate leadership skills are present at every level through creating a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained, and provided with career opportunities through development
  • Allocates the different work to the respective employees considering experience, complexity, workload, and organizational efficiency
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT systems, data and analysis and team feedback and makes appropriate changes to meet business needs.
  • Provides team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and GIT objectives


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Python, NoSQL, R programming, Scala and Advanced analytics experience will be preferred.
  • Agile Project management and Scrum certification will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of Self-Service BI Tools like Power BI, Tableau will be preferred.
  • Exasol or other in memory database hands on experience will be preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to present complex business case to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Strong demand management, delivery orientated mindset and communication skills are required.
  • Skills to plan and execute short-, medium- and long-term BI roadmap is required.
  • Strong level of Data Warehouse, Data Lake design and development and Business intelligence frontend development.
  • Strong Knowledge of MicroStrategy architect, dashboard & report development including with a strong focus on visual insights.
  • Familiarity with data engineering for analytics will be desirable
  • Experience with data modelling in an analytical context

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration or IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient spoken and written command of English
  • At least 5-year experience in IT
  • 7+ years’ experience in Management of BI Solutions.
  • 1 year of experience in team management
  • Understanding of different culture
  • Participated in projects with people from other functions/market
