Trainee Accountant

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: 

  

This role is a fixed term training contract for the duration of the ACA qualification (approx. 3.5 years). Over the duration of the training contract, you will gain exposure to a number of areas across our Finance department including Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and financial accounting. 

 

The role will support the Cluster North team including North, Nordics as well as our Global Business Solutions (GBS) Centre in Porto. 

 

  

Key Responsibilities: 

    

FP&A (Sales) activities, including: 

  • Assist in the completion of the monthly IBP Process and annual Budget cycle 

  • Work with sales business partners to provide accurate monthly sales forecasts across the North Customers   

  • Drive the conversion of the orderbook by working cross-functionally and ensuring clear actions are defined and carried out. 

  • Using information from all functions across the business, regularly review and report back on tracking versus forecast to ensure results are delivered within the accepted forecast tolerances  

  • Support for Trade Investment process challenging Sales force to get the best value for business on any margin enhanced deals 

 

Marketing function, including: 

  • Providing full support in the delivery of the marketing element of the annual budget process  

  • Ensuring monthly reports are supplied to business partners on the progress of marketing spend vs. budgets/targets highlighting key issues/actions to all budget holders 

  • Manage the process of financial input and approval for all Sports Marketing contracts 

  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing on the preparation of business analysis as and when required (e.g. new marketing campaigns, potential symbol signings etc.) 

 

Financial Accounting activities, including: 

  • Assist in preparation of all annual tax computations 

  • Assist in the preparation for all annual audits 

  • Support team during audit, including liaising directly with advisors and dealing with follow up queries 

  • Assist with tax matters for all North and Nordic companies 

  • Review and approve VAT submissions

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Graduate with a minimum 2:1 grade in a relevant degree 

  • Previous relevant work experience or ‘year in industry’ is advantageous but not essential
