Transportation Analyst (Direct Ship)


The Inbound Transportation Analyst is responsible for the overall transportation effectiveness through daily planning, analysis, and issue resolution. This person must have the ability to collaborate with internal, external, and 3rd party customers to achieve set goals and KPI’s. This position will require an independent thinker who strives for continuous improvement and likes to think on their feet. To be successful, the analyst must have advanced reporting and data analytics skills as well as transportation and logistics knowledge. This position is responsible for the support of all brands and the transportation management team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze historical and forecast data to generate customer and management reports in support of key program KPIs, COTA, COTIF, CPU and financial performance
  • Ensure carriers are meeting/exceeding their performance SLAs. Develop, measure and monitor transportation KPIs
  • Report and manage cost related to Demurrage & Detention and Storage
  • Support transportation optimization by providing analytics, reporting and operational insight focused on cost savings, operational efficiency, and transportation management
  • Develop and maintain SOPs to ensure the accuracy and consistency of a variety of Inbound Transportation Direct Ship functions.
  • Work with cross functional and external teams to onboard new customers, maintain playbooks and drive overall program growth and performance
  • FSCT and Planning
  • Participate in global and regional logistics and transportation initiatives/projects related to the US inbound and co-ordinate implementation of deliverables across all brands. 
  • Create, Maintain, and/or modify department dashboards and analytical tools.


Key Relationships: 

  • Internally: T&L functions, Global competence centers, GOPS functions, Distribution, Finance; Sales; Account Operations
  • Externally: Industry representatives, carriers, 3PL’s; origin logistics teams, customers and their logistics teams.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent analysis and data management skills with demonstrated ability to organize data and prepare reports in a logical manner
  • Ability to efficiently interact and build a favorable business relationship with internal and external customers
  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, MicroStrategy and/or Tableau
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with performance metrics or KPIs
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills to conduct meetings and present to stakeholders and project teams
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Transport and Logistics business

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 4 year college or university degree, focus on Business Administration, Business Analytics, Engineering, Logistics/Transportation or Supply Chain preferred.  Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree
  • 3-5 years progressive work experience and/or training in Supply Chain and/or Logistics Industry
  • Financial Analyst experience is a plus
