Senior Director SCM - EU Inbound Transportation

Responsible of Inbound Planning and Transportation for adidas EU. Drive continuous planning, process, system and service improvements with the goal of achieving on-time availability and best-in-class delivery service to the consumer as well as supporting strategic business priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop medium and long-term strategic direction for Inbound and work with team managers to execute strategy/initiatives.
  • Develop a high-performance team, provide training, coaching, professional growth, and career planning to ensure organisational health and sustainability.
  • Promotes consistent inter-departmental communication with Sales, Marketing, Account Operations, Finance, Product Supply, DC Operations and Tech to assist adidas in exceeding all corporate goals, initiatives and forecasts.
  • Responsible for inbound logistics, planning and management from point of ex-factory until delivery to an adidas DC or direct delivery to customer.
  • Direct strategies and tactics for balancing and achieving service and cost targets i.e. lead time compliance, container fill-rate, equipment usage and avoidance of demurrage and detention.
  • Work with the Omni-Channel & Deployment team to produce short and medium term (1 to 9 month) DC inventory/shipping projections and work with DC Ops management to ensure that adidas DCs (and 3PLs) are operationally prepared to meet business requirements (both volumes and service levels) at best cost, across both peak and low periods.
  • Deliver a centralized, efficient and consistent Inbound service and governance to the EU market through management of allocation, stock movements and transfers in accordance to agreed business rules and schedules.
  • Establishes short and long-range strategies and solutions that enable the on-time fulfillment of the adidas wholesale, retail and e-commerce businesses at optimal service and cost. 
  • Establishes key performance indicators in alignment with EU SCM objectives, ensuring the proper monitoring and corrective actions are taken to ensure targets are met. 
  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to optimize service levels and improve costs. 
  • Defines, develops, and ensures quality business review processes with carriers and service providers with a focus on continuous process improvement and cost control.
  • Assists the global tendering process with Ocean and Air Freight carriers.
  • Responsible for driving reduced lead-time programs; targeting On-Time Deliveries, hitting Must Arrive Dates

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent cross-functional experience and business know-how of end-to-end Supply Chain Management operations.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service orientation and focus on the consumer value proposition.
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain mechanics and flow of goods from sourcing to customer.
  • Understanding of advanced supply chain concepts and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP and strong MS Office knowledge.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and computation skills and ability to root-cause, problem solve and drive solutions.
  • Comfortable creating complex operations planning models, productivity scenarios, distribution modelling, and early warning programs. 
  • Experience driving performance improvements and change within a complex global organization.
  • Proven experience and understanding of wholesale industry customers and their process flow fundamentals as well as similar experience with retail store and eCommerce distribution models and flows. 
  • Polished and articulate with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills demonstrated by the ability to influence, communicate, and lead at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • Strong and consistent sense of anticipation, urgency, creative problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to accept and meet critical deadlines with reliable planning and organization skills.
  • Demonstrates solid leadership principles, a mentoring focus and great aptitude for leading diverse people and teams, with awareness, sensitivity and consistent professionalism. 

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management from a College or University.  We welcome the equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 8 years work experience in one or more Supply Chain Management, Business, or Finance functions in a global company, ideally in the sporting goods industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience directly managing people, preferably experience managing people managers.
  • CPIM, Lean Six Sigma Certification a plus
