Purpose of the Role:

The Marketplace Manager at adidas drives profitable and sustainable growth in the South East European (SEE) market by leading the execution of a One Brand, One Marketplace strategy that ensures a seamless consumer experience across all channels. This role develops and executes strategic plans with a consumer-first approach, aligning insights with execution while fostering collaboration between Sales, Marketing, and Omnichannel teams. By influencing internal and external stakeholders, the Marketplace Manager drives brand and commercial excellence, identifies growth opportunities, and enhances brand equity through cohesive marketplace strategies. Championing a marketplace-first culture, this role breaks down silos to deliver a unified brand experience.

 

What you will do:

  • Support the Marketplace Development Director in drafting short-, mid-, and long-term strategies to win in the marketplace, serving as the single point of contact (SPOC) for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the marketplace, competitors, and industry landscape, acting as the voice and eyes of the consumer to develop actionable plans.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and operating rhythms to ensure effective planning, execution, and follow-up, with a focus on Leadership and Sales & Marketing communities (e.g., Game Plan, Marketplace Plan, Category Plan, SMA meetings).
  • Drive cross-border account operations internally and local account organization externally, sharing relevant insights with stakeholders to unlock new business opportunities, amplify international plans, and maximize net sales, sell-out, and market share.
  • Leverage market data, insights, and regular reporting from the Analytics Team to translate opportunities and recommendations into profitable and sustainable market share growth across brick-and-mortar and digital channels.
  • Collaborate with Consumer Insights South, Market Intelligence Europe, and the Marketplace Development team to gather insights on consumer behavior, marketplace dynamics, channels, and geographies, shaping marketplace evolution strategies with local stakeholders.
  • With the support of the Marketplace Development Director, oversee the governance and methodology of strategic milestones (e.g., Seasonal Plan, Game Plans, Marketplace Plans), ensuring efficient planning, execution, and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive engagement and alignment on country priorities across all organizational levels, ensuring clarity, simplification, and a focus on high-impact initiatives.
  • Foster an "insights-to-action" culture while strengthening market share-driven thinking within leadership teams and cross-border accounts to enhance market responsiveness and business outcomes.
  • Partner with the Analytics & Reporting and Sales Development teams to create a centralized intelligence hub, providing easy access to marketplace insights and empowering data-driven decision-making.
  • Facilitate VIP visits, market visits, and retail tours in collaboration with the Marketplace Development Director and South Head Office team, ensuring seamless coordination with relevant stakeholders.

 

Skills you will need:

  • University degree in Business, with a focus on Marketing and Sales.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, or working with Strategic, Alliance, or Key Accounts.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in forecasting, data tools, and storytelling, capable of quickly building a big-picture perspective.
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with a hands-on approach, curiosity, and a drive for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
  • Exposure in Sporting Goods / Fashion / FMCG industries is a plus
