Director Data, Analytics & AI
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Build and lead LAM's data, analytics, and AI engineering hub from the ground up. This role owns the technical backbone that powers data as a service from sales to supply chain across all LAM countries and functions
You will architect how data flows, build the platforms that make advanced analytics possible, and create the AI solutions that drive business impact. Think lakehouse architecture, production ML models, and data pipelines that work at scale.
This is not an infrastructure work. You are building the engine that turns raw data into decisions worth millions, partnering closely with BD Analytics to move the region from scattered reports to industrialized, AI-enabled decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the data architecture for LAM. Design the technical roadmap that aligns with global Data & AI standards while solving regional realities. Build the lakehouse, define integration patterns, set modeling standards, and make sure everything scales.
- Build the data engineering capability in Colombia. Stand up the team that ingests, transforms, and models data from every source system we have, commercial, digital, finance, SCM, HR, market data, you name it. Make sure pipelines are robust, documented, and stay up.
- Drive data quality, governance, and security. Implement the controls and monitoring that keep data trustworthy. Work with global teams on compliance stuff like privacy and security. Own the semantic layers that everyone downstream depends on.
- Lead advanced analytics and AI solutions. Build out the data science capability that creates models people use and get industrialized properly with real monitoring and lifecycle management.
- Partner with BD Analytics as their primary counterpart. Co-own the joint analytics roadmap. Translate business needs into technical solutions. Make sure what you build gets adopted, not just shipped.
- Work with all functions to understand their data needs. Partner with Digital, Wholesale, Retail, Finance, SCM, HR, Brand, and Markets to figure out upstream constraints and align on how new data sources get introduced.
- Design the DNA organization structure. Co-design the future team with Tech, BD, and HR. Attract talent across data engineering, data science, and analytics product ownership. Build a culture of engineering excellence and business collaboration.
Key Relationships:
- Primary partnership: Director Data & Business Intelligence (BD Analytics)
- Tech leadership: Sr. Director IT LAM, global Data & Platform teams.
- Business stakeholders: VPs and Directors across all functions (Digital, Wholesale, Retail, Finance, SCM, HR, Brand, Markets)
- Country teams: General Managers and local function leads across LAM markets
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- 10+ years in data engineering, analytics platforms, data science, or related fields with real exposure to modern data architectures (cloud lakehouse, streaming, APIs)
- At least 5 years leading multi-disciplinary data/analytics teams in a technology leadership role (regional or global scope)
- Deep understanding of data engineering (ETL/ELT, data modeling, orchestration, CI/CD for data), cloud data platforms (lakehouse/warehouse, semantic models, Power BI)
- Solid knowledge of advanced analytics concepts—forecasting, optimization, propensity modeling, recommendation engines—and experience working with data scientists and MLOps engineers
- Can translate business problems into technical architectures and data products with clear SLAs
- Comfortable in ambiguity and transformation. High ownership and pragmatism—balances perfect architecture with business value now
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- Fluency in English required; Spanish and/or Portuguese a strong plus
- Proven ability to deliver advanced analytics and AI solutions in production
- As manager of technical teams, minimum 8 years management experience required
