PR and Culture Marketing Assistant (Originals) - 6 Month Maternity Cover
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
- Use Brand PR as a strategic, effective, integrated and cost-efficient communication tool in the marketing mix, to achieve regional and local business objectives, while aligning with global guidelines.
- Support the Senior Manager Brand Activation & EIM Style EM South, to achieve the short and mid-term objectives for the category and drive the category respective KPIs.
- Contribute to brand building and commercial success by addressing the relevant target group efficiently and effectively, through integrated communications channels
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive an integrated PR strategy for the Originals category, delivering local PR activities that amplify adidas campaigns, products, partnerships, and innovations to position Originals as the most credible streetwear brand in South Africa
- Establish and maintain key relationships with media and create an advocate network (creators, influencers, bloggers, etc.) within the category landscape.
- Provide local media with compelling story ideas, clear brand & campaign messaging and useful tools (photography, press kits, seeding, interview opportunities etc).
- Oversee the development of local PR tools from concept to activation, ensuring that all projects are locally relevant, on time, within budget and on brief.
- Brief and manage media events relative to category (press conferences, interviews, media days) celebrating category products, campaigns and partners.
- Brief and oversee the tracking and reporting of local PR results to share locally and regionally as required.
- Work closely with Originals Senior Brand Manager, Global and Hub team to develop and drive an aligned EIM strategy for category
- Support the execution through press Statement drops to maximize brand heat and traffic
- Support Manager Brand Activation with the critical path planning & budget management for PR and media placements for EMS
- Drive & achieve EM South Style Brand KPIs and monitor Brand Health via tracking studies Execute the local EIM strategy as defined in partnership with Manager Brand Activation
- Order & management of promotional product and sample storeroom inventory
- Onboard and manage the EIM partner contract renewals, partner requests from PROMAT, special projects and friends and family discount
- Manage and direct seeding for EIM partners and friends of the brand for key campaigns and always-on seeding opportunities
- Manage PR strategy and execution with external agency resources

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to manage and / or collaborate with internal and external cross-functional groups
- Ability to manage external resources: agencies, partners, etc
- Solid understanding of consumer messaging and brand reputation
- Affinity with cross-channel PR and a strong background in strategy, media relations, journalism / writing and digital PR / social media.
- Broad understanding of and passion for the fashion/entertainment industry

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University Degree in PR, Marketing, Communications or a related field
- 3 - 4 years’ experience in influencer marketing and PR
- Solid understanding of consumer messaging and brand reputation.
- Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., relationship management, facilitation, etc.)
- Working cross-functionally in a diverse team
- Proven communicator – both written and verbal
- Ability to build strong relationships (agency management)
- Languages: fluent in English
- Experience with influencer management and relationship advantageous
- Digital Communication knowledge advantageous
