Manager - Balance Sheet Review and Analytics

Purpose:
This role is part of a dedicated team focused on driving actionable insights from balance sheet reconciliations. While reconciliations are performed by a separate team, this position will partner closely with market finance teams to understand business drivers behind account balances, highlight risks and opportunities, and deliver clear, executive-ready insights to senior management. This role offers exposure to senior management facilitating decision-making, opportunities to influence business outcomes through insights, and a platform to develop as a strategic finance leader.
Core Responsibilities:
- Drive end‑to‑end analysis of reconciled accounts, converting technical reconciliations into management‑ready insights
- Perform granular deep dives into balance sheet accounts to assess accuracy, risks, and underlying drivers
- Drive root cause analysis and recommend practical, scalable solutions
- Own review of key accounts such as:
- Inventory (aging, GIT)
- Fixed Assets
- Payables and Receivables
- Accruals and Provisions
- Refunds, returns, and customer liabilities
- Advances and Security deposits
- Evaluate provisions and reserves for adequacy and accuracy
- Ensure strong reconciliation discipline and balance sheet hygiene
- Track and monitor aging items, unreconciled balances, and unusual movements
- Identify risk hotspots, compliance gaps, and optimization opportunities across balance sheet accounts
- Partner with Market Finance, FP&A, Controlling, and Operations to drive insights
- Translate analysis into clear risk insights and actionable recommendations
- Partner with business teams to implement fixes and close control gaps
- Proactively highlight financial, operational, and compliance risks
- Support leadership with insightful commentary and decision support
- Deliver executive summaries, dashboards, and risk assessments for senior leadership
- Champion process improvement, automation, and control enhancements to elevate reconciliation into a strategic capability
- Strengthen financial controls and review mechanisms
- Drive improvements in processes, SOPs, and audit readiness
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies

Key Relationships:
- Reconciliation Team – Source reconciled balances and exception reports
- Market Finance Teams – Provide business drivers, local insights, and regulatory context
- FP&A and Controlling – Align insights with forecasts and performance management
- Operations / Business Units – Connect financial balances to operational realities
- Senior Management – Deliver executive‑ready insights and recommendations
- Technology / Automation Teams – Partner on digital finance initiatives
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in Finance - CA/CPA/CMA mandatory
- 12 plus years relevant work experience in the accounting / business area with minimum 7-8 years of FMCG experience and 3-4 years of relevant experience in Balance Sheet Reconciliation and proven ability to interpret reconciled accounts and extract insights
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation processes, and financial risk management
- Strong knowledge of relevant IFRS standards
- Expert knowledge of IFRS 16
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams, influencing stakeholders, and presenting to senior management
- Expertise in process improvement, internal controls, and automation initiatives
- Proven ability to translate operational detail into executive-level insights
- Experience in stakeholder management across geographies and functions
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), and management reporting
