Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
The Senior Director Global Procurement (m/f/d) will drive and implement processes, methodology and related projects within Global Procurement (from Source to Pay) and the global indirect procurement setup of the adidas Group, enabling a professional procurement setup and environment while ensuring overall effectiveness and efficiency in line with the company strategy and enable the adidas Group to achieve procurement excellence. The future incumbent (m/f/d) will act as a procurement expert within the adidas group by providing best practice guidance to procurement projects, methodologies and strategies and drive Group Procurement towards a best in class procurement organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, develop, align and drive procurement best practice methodology and processes. Implement all related governance models, e.g. supplier lifecycle, procurement performance measurement.
- Define, govern and embed relevant global strategic procurement policies across the adidas Group covering relevant brands, markets and functions, including the follow up to implement pro-actively and re-actively (post-audit) with related parties.
- Continuously monitor and maintain awareness of relevant governmental regulations, industry standards and other external requirements to ensure procurement policies and practices remain compliant and up to date.
- Own the end-to-end Source-to-Pay process and guide global process owners in delivering standardized, efficient, and compliant practices across all markets and functions.
- Define and execute Procurement Controlling as well as Performance Monitoring through KPIs and internal/external benchmarking.
- Drive and lead cross-functional Non-Trade Procurement projects, ensuring successful completion and safeguarding Global Procurement interest.
- Drive procurement transformation and all related change management activities when necessary, ensuring the implementation of an optimized procurement operating model, across all brands, all functions and all markets.
- Define, setup, execute and deliver procurement projects and assignments as requested by the supervisor in line with the department and overall procurement development.
- Supervise the implementation of procurement front & back office support within the Group, including HQ and all relevant entities.
- Lead the implementation of a high performing tactical procurement team aiming at increasing procurement influence by managing all big spend projects.
- Identify demand of training in global procurement and set up related training program.
- Run global procurement training classes to implement consistent role profiles, career path and people development approach as defined by the supervisor in line with the department and overall procurement targets and development.
- Ensure adidas procurement remains close to best practice by monitoring industry practice, by continuously assessing opportunities and formulating improvement recommendations.
- Challenge status quo as necessary by providing guidance to the procurement teams, delegated areas and business partners, at group level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Successfully applying all core aspects of project management skills and ability to coordinate cross-functional project teams from concept to implementation on an international scale.
- Understanding and knowledge in (indirect) procurement methodology, including category management, organizational design, overall development and performance enhancement.
- Planning and organization skills, and ability to work and deliver in changing environments, under limited guidance while adhering to specified deadlines.
- Understanding the bigger picture and strategic intent of longer term transformation and development roadmaps across multinational and complex organisations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and in writing, to interact effectively and efficiently on different layers of the organization.
- Broad & deep knowledge in area of responsibility within procurement, combining with knowledge of other relevant areas as process, project and people management.
- Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional and cross-entity teams.
- Understanding to work in an environment of political sensitivity.
- Travel up to 25 %
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- A 4-year degree from an accredited college or university (Bsc./Msc.) with emphasis on the areas of business, economics, finance, procurement or legal, or comparable professional education.
- At least 10+ years working experience with 6+ years of experience in similar or adequate role in procurement environment, preferable with 4+ project and people management elements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and preferably SAP MM/ SRM
- Fluent in English. Knowledge of any additional language is considered an asset.
