Sport Marketing Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPORTS MARKETING STRATEGY & PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
- Lead the development and execution of the local Sports Marketing strategy and plan, aligned with business objectives, Brand priorities and global Sports Marketing strategy.
- Identify market opportunities that strengthen adidas’ position across priority sports and categories, and translate these into strategic Sports Marketing initiatives.
- Develop strategic recommendations for and manage a diverse portfolio of athletes, teams, federations, and other Sports Marketing partners aligned with category and commercial priorities.
- Define the local strategy, role, and objectives of each partnership to maximize its contribution to the Brand and business.
- Regularly evaluate the partner portfolio and recommend opportunities to strengthen, optimize, or evolve investments.
- Execute a cross-category approach across the Sports Marketing portfolio to maximize partner relevance and impact.
END-TO-END SPORTS MARKETING & PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the end-to-end Sports Marketing operating process, ensuring clear ways of working across internal teams and external partners.
- Own the end-to-end partner servicing process, from contracting and onboarding through seasonal planning, activation, product servicing, performance review, and contract completion or renewal.
- Lead seasonal product planning and management for Sports Marketing partners, ensuring product requirements are aligned with Brand and category priorities.
- Manage partner product forecasting, ordering, allocation, delivery, and inventory to ensure timely and accurate product servicing.
- Coordinate partner-specific product needs and product creation projects, working closely with relevant local, regional, and global Product, Category, and Creation teams.
- Translate partner and market requirements into clear product briefs and manage the process from concept and alignment through development, approval, production, and delivery.
- Ensure teams and partners wear and represent adidas products in line with Brand and category plans, reinforcing adidas as the leading performance brand.
- Identify and resolve operational gaps across the Sports Marketing process to improve efficiency, partner experience, and execution quality.
PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT & SERVICING
- Deliver industry-leading day-to-day service to contracted partners and maintain strong, trusted relationships throughout the partnership lifecycle.
- Oversee the execution of contractual rights, obligations, access, appearances, product requirements, and other partnership deliverables.
- Ensure all partners consistently represent adidas brand positioning and values both on and off the sporting landscape.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including athletes, teams, federations, agents, leagues, and relevant sporting organizations.
- Provide on-the-ground support for Sports Marketing activities, partner engagements, sporting events, and other ad hoc requirements as needed.
PARTNER LEVERAGING & BRAND ACTIVATION
- Identify opportunities to integrate Sports Marketing partners into key brand initiatives, campaigns, product launches, and consumer activations.
- Develop and deliver best-in-class leveraging plans that maximize the brand and business impact of Sports Marketing partnerships.
- Collaborate closely with Brand Communications/Activation, Category and Visual Merchandising teams to bring partner stories and opportunities to life across Vietnam.
- Supervise local partner-related activations and ensure strong alignment between Sports Marketing strategy, Brand plans, and execution.
- Maximize partner access, assets, content, and storytelling opportunities across relevant consumer touchpoints.
CONTRACT, BUDGET & GOVERNANCE
- Lead contract negotiations in line with strategic priorities, market value, budget parameters, and global Sports Marketing guidelines.
- Ensure all Sports Marketing contracts, partnerships, and operations comply with global Sports Marketing Policy and relevant internal governance requirements.
- Own and manage the local Sports Marketing and partner budget, ensuring disciplined investment, accurate forecasting, and effective utilization of resources.
- Monitor contractual deliverables and partnership performance to ensure adidas receives agreed rights and value from its investments.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and tracking of contracts, budgets, product commitments, and key partnership deliverables.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Act as the key Sports Marketing interface across relevant local, regional, and global stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Brand Communications/Activation, Category/Product, Commercial, Finance, Legal, and other relevant functions to ensure seamless execution of Sports Marketing priorities.
- Provide Sports Marketing expertise and partner insights into relevant Brand and business planning processes.
- Ensure strong internal visibility of the Sports Marketing portfolio, upcoming opportunities, partner commitments, and key milestones.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
- Local: Brand Communications/Activations, Category Management, Visual Merchandising, Digital, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain
- Global/Regional: Sports Marketing/Brand Partner, Legal
- External: Athletes, Teams, Federations, Agents, Agencies/Vendors
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong negotiation and commercial decision-making skills
- Strategic marketing experience with excellent interpersonal and influencing capabilities
- Deep understanding of the Vietnam sporting landscape
- Established relationships within the sports industry
- Proven Sports Marketing and Brand Activation experience
- Ability to work at pace, multitask, and manage competing priorities
- Strong planning and strategic development skills
- High level of commercial and business acumen within sports marketing
REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in Marketing or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the sports marketing industry
- Established industry network with demonstrated stakeholder management success
- IT: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Language Skills:
- English: Fluent in all four skills (speaking, writing, reading, presenting)
- Local language: Proficient
