Forklift Supervisor (Thursday - Saturday, 6:00 am - 6:00 pm)
Purpose: The operations supervisor is a member of the distribution center management team. They will work to continuously optimize our DC operations by engaging with various stakeholders to improve operational metrics and refine processes and remove waste from operations. This individual will be a strong people manager with the ability to effectively manage associates with varying levels of experience. The position requires someone who can work both autonomously and collaboratively in a demanding and often ambiguous environment with strong attention to detail and effective prioritization. Manage the flow of goods ensuring business requirements, service levels, and delivery schedules are met. Monitor and assign assignments to drivers and support labor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervisor is required to be at work at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the shift.
- Use Marc (1WMS) to assign and direct workflow to drivers daily.
- Communicate professionally with internal as well as external customers.
- Retain basic knowledge of all operations.
- Direct associates into proper clocking codes to ensure accuracy of ADP time keeping. Ensure KSA/STAR records are properly maintained (production, audits, etc.) and STAR policies are adhered to. Report any known discrepancies to the Forklift Operations Manager.
- Train, coach and develop your team.
- Celebrate accomplishment, reward behavior and performance that contribute to the operations success.
- Manage attendance, performance, and/or conduct issues as outlined in the company policies and procedures and communicate to the Shift Manager.
- Maintain key relationships with Distribution Coordinators in Receiving, Forklift, and Shipping developing as needed, to assist in managing the operation.
- Ensure associates have a safe and clean work environment (housekeeping) and any unsafe acts, accidents, or injuries are immediately reported and proper policies and procedures are followed.
- Troubleshoot all issues promptly as needed.
- Perform regular floor operation’s duties when needed (systemically process, unload, load, pick, put away, etc.).
- Carry out daily priorities as directed by the Forklift Operations Manager.
- Assume the duties of the Forklift Operations Manager during periods of absence.
- Understand are report on Key KPI’s within the shift/department all while driving improved performance and cost reduction for the E2E process flow.
- Champion Continuous Improvement through encouragement and thinking outside the box.
- Sustain and champion 6S while having clear and effective communication with other shifts to ensure the department standards are met.
Key Relationships:
- adidas INDY personnel.
- Department heads and management to include but not limited to Distribution and Production Operations, Planning & Purchasing, Finance, Customer Service, and adidas INDY management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Experience operating in high-volume distribution operations.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to effectively and efficiently interact with associates and senior DC management teams.
- Strong analytical and data skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Conceptual skills: ability to obtain, interpret, and apply information needed to make sound decisions.
- Leadership skills: ability to engage followers in all aspects of the operation.
- Basic computer/keyboard skills necessary.
- Must be highly motivated and possess the ability to work independently with limited supervision in a high-volume/energy environment.
- Ability to assess priorities and make decisions to meet key business objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple employees, performing multiple functions.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree preferred
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years related distribution experience and/or training.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.
