Quality Inspector - MFG
Purpose: This is typically not an entry-level position and is directly responsible for quality audits within the Manufacturing departments and will have a good understanding of inspection regarding Manufacturing operations and in-process Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspections. This position’s primary inspection operation will be able to adhere to the quality assurance standards set in place. This position has a good understanding of the leagues, teams, colors, fabrics, garment specifications, embellishment types (Screen Print, Embroidery, Heat Transfer and Pad Print), computer experience and all quality assurance standards and processes throughout the facility. This position will work same shift as the Manufacturing departments.
Key Responsibilities:
• FIRST PIECE APPROVAL SIGN OFF – This position will be responsible for inspecting, understanding tolerance levels and approving the first piece production for: color, placement, verifying grid information, color copy comparison, print technique, registration, curing, coverage, graphic alignment, branding, specialty application, style/graphic number, correct garment, count, size run, if the order is complete/order make ups and any other quality standards defined.
• PRODUCTION RUN LINE INSPECTION – Throughout the production run the Quality Inspector is expected to inspect the embellishments as they are being produced. o For the screen print production run, the Quality Inspector is to look for any quality defects such as color, screen pinholes, garment bleeding, registration, graphics being off center, graphic placement, ink cracking, embellishment, font type, correct size for each player number, etc. This inspection will happen at the end of the dryer. o For the embroidery production run, the Quality Inspector is to look for any quality defects such as loose threads, hoop marks, registration, graphics being off center, graphic placement, etc. This inspection will happen after the Embroidery Operator 1 touches up the garment (clips running stitches, after steaming, etc.). o For the heat transfer production run the Quality Inspector is to look for any quality defects such as scorching, registration, graphics being off center, graphic placement, etc. This inspection will happen during at the press, rotating around as they are completed. If a quality defect is discovered, the Quality Inspector has the authority to stop the press immediately and let the run team know what the issue is. If the run team fails to stop, the Shift Supervisor or Manager should be notified.
• REALLOCATION – This position will be cross trained, so that it can be reallocated as needed to achieve targets and service level and have the knowledge and ability to do inspections and audits across all manufacturing areas (Screen Print, TechFit, Embroidery, Digital, Heat Transfer, Pad Print and Sublimation).
• ACCURATE COUNTS – Throughout the run the Quality Inspector is to keep accurate counts of the garments being produced to ensure we maintain our customer fill rate. These counts can also affect when we order make-ups. In instances the run is produced short the Quality Inspector must look at the make-up decision tree to determine if a make-up is required.
• CATCHING - Throughout the production run the Quality Inspector is to catch the garments as they come down the dryer and bundle/folder/hang each garment based on the type of garment.
• RECORDING DATA – This position will be responsible for accurately recording key quality data in the AMPS system/Smart Sheets Form, to ensure Operators are given proper credit for set-ups, garments produced, and reject rates.
• TOUCH UPS - This position may also be called upon to assist with touch ups and clean-up of garments.
• MAKE UPS - This position will fill out the make-up form and submit it to the Auditors.
• ORDER PREPPING – This position may be asked to assist with prepping the orders by stacking the garments by size upside down in a neat pile.
• MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE – This position will be responsible for maintaining 6s & Lean standards.
• COMMUNICATION - This position will do an information exchange with the prior and forth coming shifts regarding status, issues and any pertinent information that the next shift may need.
• ANY OTHER ASSIGNMENTS GIVEN – Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

• The ability to lift totes, product, color books, boxes, ink buckets, etc. regularly.
• The ability to push buggies/gaylords regularly.
• The ability to move safely around Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)/forklifts/screen print presses.
• The ability to wear personal protective gear as needed (gloves, eye protectant, ear plugs, etc).
• The ability to work around heat – screen print flashes and dryers.
• The ability to lift up to 40 pounds multiple times throughout the shift.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Required to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
