Manager SEA, Field Operations
Purpose
Implement adidas’ social compliance policies, program and human rights due diligence across all in-scope T1 factories and T1 sub-contractors in the designated country. This includes conducting compliance monitoring activities (i.e. audit, performance evaluation, remediation, grievance follow up, advisory, reporting), executing social projects for the suppliers and actively engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Programmatic Work:
- Execute Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) policies, projects and programs in the designated country as per country work plan.
- Identify areas of risk to adidas in the supply chain regarding working conditions. Provide recommendations to mitigate those risks based on legal obligations and adidas’ Workplace Standards.
- Conducting social compliance audit, follow up visit and tracking the remediation plans for suppliers, to ensure compliance with SEA Workplace Standards.
- Supervise compliance audit conducted by authorized external monitors to ensure consistency and quality of the audit.
- Advise remediation options to suppliers, negotiate timeframes, share experiences and best practices, and help management locate the necessary expertise, materials, etc
- Manage and seek resolution of third-party complaints and/or factory worker’ grievance from designated countries
- Complete the supplier’s compliance performance evaluation (e.g. S-KPI, Compliance Score Cards) in the designated country/s.
- Contributing to the monthly reporting, social compliance data collection and improving the integrity, accuracy, completion, and the timeliness of social compliance data
- Execute activities under the strategic SEA program/initiatives (e.g. Worker Empowerment, Fair Compensation, Gender Strategy) in the designated country/s
Internal and External Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with adidas Sourcing team and factory management in the designated country/s to integrate social compliance requirements into business practices.
- Provide regular SEA training and/or briefing to adidas Sourcing staffs and factory’s management within designated country or countries. Collaborate with SEA Program Operations team related to capacity building for the indirect supply chain factories.
- Keep up to date on all Labour and Health & Safety legislation in the designated countries and share updates to SEA leaderships and Sourcing Team
Key Relationships
- adidas Sourcing team (i.e. LO management), Global Sourcing, Global Legal, Government Affairs, and other SEA functions.
- adidas subsidiaries representatives in the designated countries.
- adidas supplier’ Senior Management, compliance team and plant level union or worker representatives
- Stakeholders such as special interest groups, non-governmental organisations (NGO) and relevant government departments.
- Professional Associations & Industry practitioners such as other brand representatives as well as third parties
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in conducting in-depth social compliance/human right due diligence assessment, and occupational health & safety assessments. Good understanding of regulatory and policy positions of governments in key sourcing locations globally.
- Proven ability to collaborate with all levels, partnering, facilitating, and influencing and utilizing internal and external resources.
- Good project management experience, including developing and maintaining project plans, providing regular communication, coordination, problem solving, and undertaking strong budget administration.
- Good negotiation skills needed for trouble shooting and stakeholder engagement
- Well versed with manufacturing operations as well as supply chain issues related social compliance sustainability and occupational health and safety.
- Experience in working collaboratively with others in industry associations and in multistakeholder initiatives.
- Good communication skills, good written and verbal English
- Expert in Microsoft Office skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Requisite Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Occupational Health & Safety, Labor Law, Sustainability, Human Rights or related fields.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing industry with focus on social, labour, health, safety, or environmental compliance.
- Able to travel to both local and international destinations.
