Coordinator, Sports Marketing Operations

The Coordinator, Sports Marketing Operations supports adidas Basketball's grassroots strategy through product planning, seeding, budget management, and activation execution. This role helps ensure product reaches the right athletes, teams, coaches, and programs while delivering against seasonal priorities and approved plans.
Serving as a key operational liaison across athletes, partners, and internal teams, this position coordinates product, logistics, financial processes, and compliance. The role also brings athlete and partner insights into the organization to help inform product development, testing, and basketball category initiatives.
This position plays an important role in delivering a best-in-class experience across adidas Basketball's grassroots ecosystem. Success requires strong basketball knowledge, disciplined execution, relationship building, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Product Planning & Distribution: Support seasonal product strategies by managing product buys, forecasting, allocations, order tracking, and distribution across grassroots basketball programs.
• Product Seeding: Lead product seeding for grassroots teams, athletes, coaches, and key basketball events while ensuring execution aligns with approved product budgets and seasonal plans.
• Budget & Financial Management: Manage budget tracking, financial reporting, invoicing, expense reconciliation, and forecasting to ensure spending aligns with approved plans and brand priorities.
• Operational Planning: Maintain product calendars, seeding plans, activation schedules, and internal reporting to enable timely and accurate execution across grassroots initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Coordinate with footwear, apparel, brand, and product teams on product creation, testing, launches, promotional product, and category initiatives.
• Partner & Athlete Management: Build and maintain relationships with 3SSB and adiSelect program directors, coaches, agents, athletes, and key partners while serving as a primary operational point of contact.
• Athlete & Partner Insights: Capture and communicate athlete and partner insights to help inform product development, testing, and basketball category strategy.
• Administrative Operations: Coordinate order tracking, filing, correspondence, travel, expense reimbursement, meeting logistics, and other administrative activities supporting Sports Marketing operations.
• Compliance: Partner with Legal and relevant stakeholders to support compliance with NCAA, conference, school, state, and applicable NIL requirements.
• Activations & Events: Support athlete appearances, retail activations, partner meetings, grassroots events, and other basketball initiatives, including execution during peak seasonal periods.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Four-year college or university degree, preferably with an emphasis in marketing or business, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 2-5 years of related experience in Sports Marketing, Athlete Management, Brand Marketing, Collegiate Athletics, NIL Operations, or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of the basketball industry, NIL environment, high school and collegiate basketball ecosystems, and broader basketball culture.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines while working effectively across teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at different organizational levels.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and adaptability in fast-paced and changing environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel extensively and work additional hours during peak periods, with travel requirements of up to 40%.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Direct experience working within basketball, high school sports, collegiate athletics, or athlete representation.
• Experience supporting athletes, teams, coaches, agents, or sports marketing partners.
• Experience working with NIL-related programs, regulations, or athlete partnerships.
• Experience coordinating product seeding, sports marketing activations, grassroots programs, or athlete events.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position follows adidas' hybrid work policy and is based in Los Angeles, California. Employees are expected to work in the office Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Friday. In-office attendance may also be required on Fridays for work involving significant collaboration or in-person presentations.
The role operates in a fast-paced Sports Marketing environment with frequent interaction across athletes, partners, internal teams, and basketball programs. Heavy travel and additional working hours may be required during peak seasons, with travel expectations of up to 40%. The working language is English.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This role operates within adidas Sports Marketing and works closely with Basketball stakeholders across footwear, apparel, brand, product, Legal, and other cross-functional teams. The position also maintains significant external exposure through relationships with grassroots program directors, coaches, agents, athletes, and other basketball partners.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $59,700 - $82,500. Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and competencies, proficiency for the role.
Employees are eligible to earn an annual bonus based on both company and personal performance.
