Director, Communications - Touchpoint

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director, Communications - Touchpoints will help shape and implement the strategic communications plan for adidas Basketball, driving the consumer experience globally and across the U.S. marketplace. This role leads a team of brand experts across core consumer touchpoints, including Events, Media, NCAA/NIL, Wholesale, Retail, and Digital.

This role is responsible for developing industry-leading marketing strategies and integrated plans that inspire, connect, and engage consumers while strengthening adidas' position in basketball and basketball culture. The Director will create brand desirability and deliver premium consumer experiences across communication touchpoints.

Working closely with Global Basketball, Product Marketing, Merchandising, Brand Management, PR and Social, Retail, Digital, Brand Expression, local markets, agencies, and external partners, this role will drive alignment and execution across the business. The position is strategically important to building a consistent, compelling, and culturally relevant adidas Basketball presence globally and in the U.S.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Touchpoints Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of the global communications touchpoints strategy for adidas Basketball, translating business and brand priorities into integrated consumer experiences.

• Channel and Market Integration: Drive alignment across Events, Media, NCAA/NIL, Wholesale, Retail, and Digital to deliver cohesive consumer journeys across global and U.S. market touchpoints.

• Consumer and Market Expertise: Apply deep understanding of basketball consumers, culture, marketplace dynamics, and emerging trends to inform communications strategies and investment decisions.

• Agency and Partner Management: Lead agency and external partner relationships to ensure strategic alignment, creative excellence, operational effectiveness, and accountability.

• Campaign Development: Guide the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that build brand desirability, cultural relevance, and consumer engagement.

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner across Global Basketball, Product Marketing, Merchandising, Brand Management, PR and Social, Retail, Digital, Brand Expression, Finance, Procurement, and local market teams to drive aligned execution.

• Performance and Optimization: Establish clear measures of success, evaluate performance across touchpoints, and apply insights to optimize future strategies and consumer experiences.

• Budget Stewardship: Manage communications investments with disciplined prioritization, financial accountability, and a focus on maximizing business and brand impact.

• Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire a team of brand experts while creating clarity, accountability, collaboration, and high standards of execution.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, Activations, or a related field.

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience in marketing, communications, brand management, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience developing and executing omnichannel marketing or communications strategies.

• Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholder groups.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

• Strategic thinking with the ability to translate consumer and business insights into actionable plans.

• Strong understanding of consumer messaging, brand reputation, and integrated communications.

• Fluent written and spoken English.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience within the sports, fashion, entertainment, or culturally relevant consumer industries.

• Deep knowledge of basketball, basketball culture, and the broader sports marketplace.

• Experience working across global and local market teams within a complex matrixed organization.

• Experience managing agencies, external partners, and integrated consumer touchpoints.

• Passion for sport, fashion, entertainment, and the cultural forces shaping consumer behavior.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position follows the adidas Hybrid work policy, requiring in-office attendance Monday through Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Friday. In-office attendance is required on Fridays when the work requires a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation. The working location for this position is Los Angeles, California. The role operates in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, and global environment. Travel expectations are based on business needs.


REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role operates within the adidas Basketball organization and works closely with Global Basketball, Product Marketing, Merchandising, Brand Management, PR and Social, Retail, Digital, Brand Expression, local market teams, Finance, Procurement, agencies, and external partners. The Director leads a team of brand experts responsible for delivering consumer experiences across core communications touchpoints.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $163,900 - $191,500.

Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and competencies, and proficiency for the role.

Employees are eligible to earn an annual bonus based on both company and personal performance.
