Manager, PR & Social Media (Basketball)

As Manager, PR & Social Media (Basketball), you will shape and execute integrated PR and social media strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and excitement for adidas Basketball. You will translate key brand, product, campaign, and athlete stories into compelling communications across earned media, digital platforms, and social communities.
Working closely with Brand Marketing, Product, Communications, Digital, Social, Retail, local markets, agencies, and external partners, you will connect global strategy with impactful activation. This role combines strategic thinking, media relations, social storytelling, cross-functional leadership, and performance measurement to strengthen the relevance and consistency of adidas Basketball across consumer touchpoints.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• PR Strategy: Develop and execute integrated short and long-term PR strategies for adidas Basketball, connecting global and local activities to business unit priorities.
• Integrated Communications: Partner across Brand Marketing, Product, Communications, Digital, Social, and Retail to develop integrated concepts that increase awareness of adidas campaigns, products, innovations, technologies, and key moments.
• Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with relevant media, advocates, creators, and external partners to strengthen brand visibility and category relevance.
• PR Storytelling: Develop compelling story angles, messaging, press materials, photography briefs, interviews, briefing documents, and other communications tools that support earned media opportunities.
• Communications Activation: Lead the development of PR and communications tools from concept through activation while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and on brief.
• Brand Consistency: Contribute to alignment across the business unit and broader PR organization to ensure activations, products, and communications reinforce a consistent and relevant adidas brand message.
• Product Relevance: Partner with Product and Communications teams to strengthen the media relevance, cultural resonance, and newsworthiness of products, concepts, and key stories.
• Social Strategy: Support the development and execution of the overall social media strategy for adidas Basketball, including content activation, storytelling, and community engagement.
• Social Content: Collaborate with storytelling and cross-functional teams to develop social activations and content across relevant adidas digital and social platforms.
• Global Launch Planning: Drive coordinated social launch plans for priority brand stories, campaigns, product moments, and content across adidas social platforms.
• Athlete Storytelling: Develop social media rollouts that amplify athlete partners, key basketball moments, campaigns, and culturally relevant storytelling opportunities.
• Performance Measurement: Establish relevant PR and social media metrics, track activation performance, and develop reporting that translates results into insights and future recommendations.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a proactive partner across Brand Marketing and the broader PR organization while collaborating with local markets, agencies, Finance, Procurement, and external partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant industry or professional experience in public relations, communications, social media, marketing, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting or executing integrated marketing, communications, PR, or social media campaigns.
• Strong understanding of media relations, consumer messaging, brand reputation, digital PR, and social media.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external cross-functional partners across Product Marketing, Communications, Social, Digital, and Retail.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to translate business and brand priorities into effective communications.
• Strong understanding of and passion for the sports, fashion, and entertainment landscape.
• Fluent written and spoken English language skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Master's degree or MBA.
• Experience developing cross-channel PR and social media strategies within a consumer-facing brand or agency environment.
• Background in media relations, journalism, writing, digital communications, or social media storytelling.
• Experience developing communications or social activations around athletes, sports, entertainment, products, or culturally relevant moments.
• Experience collaborating with global and local market teams, creative agencies, media partners, and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with social media measurement and translating performance metrics into actionable insights.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position follows the adidas hybrid work policy and is based in Los Angeles, California. Employees are expected to work in the office Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Friday. In-office attendance may also be required on Fridays when the work requires a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation. The role operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative brand and marketing environment with regular interaction across internal teams, agencies, media, and external partners.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This role operates within the adidas Basketball Brand Marketing and broader Public Relations organization, with significant cross-functional exposure to Brand Management, Product Marketing, Communications, Social, Digital, Retail, local markets, Finance, Procurement, creative agencies, external partners, and key accounts.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $108,240 - $119,220.
Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and competencies, and proficiency for the role.
Employees are eligible to earn an annual bonus based on company performance.
