Manager Global Procurement Inbound Transportation (m/f/d)
PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION
Drive the development of category best practices for the Inbound Transportation category on a global basis, including:
- Definition, deployment and execution of sourcing strategy of the sub-category Inbound und the category Transport, Logistics and Distribution in close collaboration with global business partners and SCM market teams
- Realization of stakeholder management to maximize total cost of ownership savings and Procurement’s value contribution
- Assure achieving compliance targets with policies, strategies, and processes
- Strive to meet the mutually agreed Procurement targets contributing to the overall budget targets
- Drive execution of provider portfolio management of the Inbound category
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Define global category strategy for a sub-category within the global category of transport & logistics
- Analyze sub-category and define category profile, incl. spend, requirement management, risk assessment, supplier base assessment and SRM strategy
- Benchmark sub-category best practices to identify initiatives for improvement and establish best practice sharing across markets and functions
- Build sub-category specific strategic (sourcing) plan in alignment with business and SCM Market teams
- Align strategic (sourcing) plan to financial budget and global business strategies
- Enhance and deploy Inbound category methodology and toolbox
(Co)-Lead Inbound Transport sourcing strategy implementation to support market needs and savings realization on sub-category level
- Initiate & synthesize internal and external analysis (industry/market and supplier intelligence)
- Consolidate requirements and act as business partner for the business and transport & logistics teams,
- Lead / support contract implementation and drive contract compliance on a global basis
- Be accountable for savings delivery according to the mutually defined targets on sub-category level
Govern and support the work and efforts of a cross-functional sourcing team in all stages of a strategic sourcing project on sub-category level
- Drive/support alignment of roles and responsibilities on sourcing project level (operating model)
- Drive/govern RfX execution: supplier selection, fact-based negotiations
- Collaborate and align with global/ market/ country procurement teams as applicable
- Collaborate with legal to finalize contractual agreement and its administration
- Ensure consistent usage of savings methodology and savings tracking through close collaboration with GFF
- Work with Procurement Leads to implement and activate contracts globally
Manage commercial supplier relationship with key suppliers within the defined sub-category and market scope and in alignment with Supply Chain Management Teams
- Implement, maintain and manage relationship with suppliers identified as key suppliers in the respective sub-category, monitors performance of key strategic suppliers
- Lead supplier development activities: set up cross-functional review meetings with key strategic suppliers to improve performance and further cost / demand reductions
- Support the identification of potential contract improvement opportunities and re-negotiations
Manage relationship with key stakeholders and business representatives
- Act as an escalation point for sub-category related issues and drive resolution in line with global Procurement policies
- Achieve “buy-in” from key stakeholders in the market for major procurement initiatives
- Create and outline contribution for budget improvements
- Foster that business needs are being identified, represented and incorporated into category strategies
- Act as Point of Contact for the business to assure business requirements are met
- Best Practice sharing with SCM markets, Global Procurement Community and other key business functions
- Review process improvement opportunities with focus on cost reductions (create an advantage)

- Procurement: Category Director, Senior Category Managers, Market Director Procurement, Country Senior Manager Procurement
- Supply Chain Management: Director, Senior Manager, Manager Levels
- Other key business functions like Legal, Risk Mgmt., and Compliance, Insurance, Finance and GBS
- Suppliers: Key Account Leads, Senior Officials
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge in sourcing and procurement methodologies and concepts, business partnering and category management within the Inbound transportation sub-category
- Background in transportation (preferably Air and Ocean Freight), logistics and supply chain management
- Knowledge of Procurement strategy development and conveyance
- Knowledge of procurement tools and data, content and automation
- Knowledge of the relevant markets and suppliers
- Ability to analyze specifications and influence demand
- Capability to interact throughout the adidas organization
- Knowledge and experience in projects and process management
- Good analytical, presentation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Action oriented and solution minded team player with high degree of self-management
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point and preferably Power BI
- Fluent in English, spoken and written
- Travel of up to 20%
REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree with emphasis on the areas of logistics, supply chain, business, economics, finance, procurement, or comparable professional education
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ professional experience in a similar functional domain or other related positions, preferably knowledge of category at hand; experience with supplier selection, negotiation and contracting
- Procurement, sales or operations for a Logistics service provider or within the FMCG industry
