Director Strategy & Business Intelligence

 

Purpose & Impact

This role is critical to drive profitable and sustainable growth for adidas Mexico by defining a clear strategic direction, ensuring flawless execution of key initiatives, and embedding data-driven decision-making across the organization.

As a trusted partner to the Country GM and leadership team, you will shape the strategic agenda, translate it into actionable priorities, and challenge the organization through an outside-in perspective and innovation mindset.

 

What You Will Drive (4 Core Pillars)

1. Strategy Planning

  • Lead the end-to-end strategic planning process for the country (internal & external view).
  • Define a clear strategic roadmap aligned with Global and LATAM priorities.
  • Facilitate annual strategic reviews and establish focused yearly priorities (playbook).
  • Bring an outside-in perspective, integrating market, consumer, and competitive insights.

2. Strategy Execution (Project Leadership)

  • Translate strategy into actionable initiatives and projects.
  • Drive and orchestrate cross-functional execution of key priorities.
  • Ensure strong project governance, tracking, and KPI definition.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and hold teams accountable for delivery.

3. Business Intelligence & Insights (Data / Outside-In)

  • Leverage internal data, advanced analytics, and external market intelligence.
  • Transform data into clear, actionable insights to win with the consumer.
  • Identify new business opportunities and growth drivers across brands and channels.
  • Continuously elevate the organization’s data-driven culture, with exposure to AI/advanced analytics as a plus.

4. Leadership & Impact

  • Act as a strategic leader within the adidas Mexico structure, influencing across functions.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the GM and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Lead and develop a high-performance mindset within the team and stakeholders.
  • Drive change management, ensuring adoption of new ways of working and organizational evolution.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the Country Strategic Business Plan.
  • Coordinate and prioritize cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Support the GM and SLT in decision-making, KPI tracking, and business performance reviews.
  • Prepare and articulate clear, high-impact executive communication (local, regional, global).
  • Act as the main interface with LATAM (Panama Hub), ensuring alignment and best practice sharing.
  • Proactively identify and lead ad hoc strategic projects addressing critical business challenges.

Must-have capabilities

  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Proven experience in strategy development AND execution (not only planning).
  • Solid expertise in project management (PMO frameworks) and cross-functional leadership.
  • Ability to simplify complexity and communicate clearly at executive level.
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to turn data into business impact.
  • High personal impact and influencing skills within a matrix organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with curiosity, creativity, and innovation focus.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to advanced analytics / AI tools (especially applied to business decision-making).
  • Experience in consumer, retail, or branded environments.

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in management consulting or business roles (Strategy, Business Development, Finance, Sales, Brand, SCM, or similar).
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership / executive teams.
  • Leadership experience managing or influencing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Fluent English and Spanish (mandatory).
