Director Tax
Purpose & Function Description:
The overall objective of Corporate Taxes is to create value for the global enterprise, business units, and shareholders by maximizing corporate profitability through minimizing overall tax burden while executing and directing compliance to conform with all legal frameworks in preserving the Company’s reputation and integrity. In this role, the Tax Director will serve as the Regional Tax Leader for the Latin Americas region of adidas.
Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Latin America (LAM) has employees in adidas offices and operations in 10 countries: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Honduras, México, Panamá, Perú, and Uruguay. The Regional Tax Leader is responsible for the overall tax planning and compliance of the adidas entities in the LAM Region.
Ensure compliance with the tax laws of the jurisdictions in which the adidas entities of the LAM region have operations and assist in the minimization of the adidas global consolidated income tax liability.
Management and Resolution of tax audits and tax controversies and involve external advisors when necessary.
Collaborate with business units/teams and provide advice/guidance on tax relevant matters while also managing the tax risk/exposure of the LAM region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactive involvement in developing short and long-term tax strategies that align with the global and market business initiatives and strategies.
- Ensure that the global strategy is executed properly at the market level which requires balancing the overall global needs with the market specific business needs.
- Collaboration with LAM senior leadership teams and global tax leadership teams to identify areas of tax risk and create remediation plans.
- Build strong relationships with external tax advisors for timely and accurate tax return compliance, consultation and analysis on tax projects, and risk identification of the market’s business and tax issues.
- Business partnering and advisory support for tax matters in the LAM region.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate processes and procedures to ensure proper tax governance of the global and market policies.
- Governance role of the market’s local effective tax rates, cash taxes, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Effectively manage and resolve LAM tax examinations and tax controversies.
- Provide best practices and recommendations to the LAM business partners with respect to tax compliance and planning.
- Support adidas T2T Product Team (transactions to taxation) in resolution of local issues.
- Analyze and assess tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax reporting implications of any LAM acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings.
- Assist in management and minimization of the global consolidated effective tax rate for financial statement purposes.
- Maintain technical competency and keep current of legislative tax developments and changes that may affect the adidas entities of the LAM region.
- Manage and mentor a team of 5-8 tax professionals.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting
- 10+ years relevant Tax experience, including management of international tax planning and/or compliance
- Deep knowledge of Mexico and Latin America Corporate direct and indirect tax practices
- Diverse background including both “Big 4” and/or multinational public accounting experience and corporate experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years management experience required
- Open Mobility and travel required for collaborative discussions with our partners in multiple countries in the LAM region
