Lead, Health & Safety (Monday-Friday)

 

Hourly Wage: $29.00 

 

Purpose:

The Lead, Health & Safety provides administrative and operational support to Distribution Centre (DC) Operations Managers and Supervisors to ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements. The role is responsible for coordinating and administering Health & Safety programs, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to the maintenance of a strong safety culture throughout the Distribution Centre.

 

Key Responsibilities (Functional):  

 

  • Coordinate and conduct monthly workplace health and safety inspections; document findings and ensure corrective actions are tracked to completion.
  • Investigate all workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage, and provide recommendations to the DC Senior Management Team to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead and participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, including agenda preparation, facilitation, and accurate recording of minutes.
  • Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments (including Job Safety Analyses), and recommend effective control measures.
  • Administer the Quentic Health & Safety management system, including incident reporting, training follow-up, reporting, user access management, and data integrity.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver monthly safety talks and Health & Safety communications across all operational areas.
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze Health & Safety performance metrics and prepare reports for review by the DC Senior Management Team.
  • Maintain data accuracy within the iWarehouse mobile equipment automation system related to Health & Safety requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, evaluations, and documentation.
  • Review and update Health & Safety policies, procedures, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with DC Senior Management, Human Resources, Facilities, and the JHSC to ensure compliance with Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development requirements.
  • Support Health & Safety training coordination, new-hire safety orientations, and contractor safety compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer proficiency skills, with emphasis on MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Labour Standards
  • Able to effectively build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders and departments

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 2-4 years’ experience with Health and Safety in a warehousing environment is an asset
  • Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Joint Health and Safety Certified
  • First Aid Certification
