Director Margin Planning

Purpose:

  • As Director you will be responsible developing margin planning framework, including enhancement of existing process, planning rigor, insights, processes, decision support and business transparency of major KPIs (GIM, SM, CoS) across NAM to support deliver of financial objectives.
  • This role creates E2E visibility of margin planning, development, and execution; providing market expertise and leadership to support key seasonal product pricing & costing processes and controlling to ensure process integrity and transparency of performance against plan.
  • You will bring top-notch financial support, as well challenge the NAM Finance and Product Merchandising teams to support delivery of Financial and Strategic objectives. You will provide business transparency, financial guidance and bring recommendations to business partners, facilitating fact-based decision making.
  • Understanding of Margin per and across channels and categories.

 

Key Accountabilities – Margin:

  • Facilitate Fiscal & Seasonal Margin guidance setting in alignment with FP&A and Global expectations; providing analysis, assumptions & scenario planning to support decision-making.
  • Drive clarity and connectivity on Fiscal Margin planning through IBP, RFC & Budget processes; ensuring connectivity of margin-driving assumptions and clarity in output.
  • Manage Seasonal range planning processes to drive margin development; providing Merch partners with clear guidance, insights into costing developments across their range and scenario analysis to support fact-based ranging, pricing and mix decisions to deliver against Category margin guidance.
  • Manage Seasonal margin review and sign-off process to provide NAM Finance & Merchandising with clarity on price, cost, mix and margin developments versus mirror season & guidance.
  • Enhance or develop necessary Fiscal (outside of IBP SAC Tool) & Seasonal modelling tools to support scenario analysis, transparency on margin drivers, margin bridging outputs & decision-making.
  • Develop and manage reporting of Fiscal and Seasonal Margin (GIM & SM) developments. Regularly analyze developments, highlighting Risks & Opportunities and creating transparency across NAM.
  • Develop and implement adequate communication packages to present derived results, recommendations, and solutions to NAM Finance, Merchandising and Commercial leadership.

 

Key Accountabilities – Pricing:

  • Partner cross-functionally (notably with Merchandising & Internal Controls) to develop NAM Pricing Policy to guide strategic, pre-season and in-season pricing strategy and analysis. Drive compliance across organization and provide appropriate documentation for Internal Controls testing.
  • Analyse and simulate pricing impacts to support range planning, financial planning and to maximize profitability; provide recommendations, risks & opportunities, and decision support.
  • Provide clarity to market on pricing developments & impacts, driving inputs & connectivity across key planning processes (IBP, RFC, and seasonal range planning); provide transparency & tracking on actual Pricing development in market as compared to market planning guidance.
  • Develop or enhance tools, systems & reporting needed to support robust preseason and in-season analysis, tracking and transparency across market.
  • Manage NAM Price Change Approval process and serve as NAM Finance signoff, providing decision support and transparency to financial and operational impacts and ensuring execution of defined processes with compliance across organization & appropriate documentation.
  • Consolidate separate pricing processes in US, Canada, Hype & Golf into one NAM approach.

Key Accountabilities – Costing:

  • Serve as NAM product costing & TradeCo/aSL/GBS expert and primary point of contact; act as NAM lead for all Standard Costing projects, workstreams with Global & Local partners.
  • Manage seasonal TradeCo costing process for NAM; including uploading bi-weekly Pricelist updates to RAD/SAP, proactive review of prelim TradeCo costing (or earlier if available) to ensure favorable locked Costing for market; manage requests and corresponding analysis for TradeCo price changes or refreeze with aSL/GBS partners.
  • Provide clarity to market on globally forecasted seasonal cost factor developments, driving connectivity across key planning processes (IBP, RFC and seasonal range planning); provide transparency & tracking on actual cost development in market as compared to global guidance.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior executives, stakeholders, cross functional business leaders, peers, clients, and customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing projects & deliverables cross-functionally.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.

Qualifications (Minimum required education and experience):

  • University degree in Finance, Marketing, Accounting or Business 
  • 5-10 years of experience in financial planning or analysis; product costing background is a plus.
  • Prior People Leadership experience preferred.
  • Industry-specific experience preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and Financial Modelling skills required.
  • Familiarity with relevant adidas (Databricks, Power BI, SAP) systems/analytical software
