Senior Designer - Apparel

PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANISATION

•    Create market relevant, industry leading apparel to generate a desirable and clear adidas brand image, from sell-in to sellout (consumer-facing)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Lead the Creative development for NAM market SMUs across multiple consumer touchpoints within the following topics:
o    Concept creation
o    Material and trim selection/development
o    Apparel Design
o    Graphic and print direction
o    Product execution
•    Lead the execution of creative brand strategies to ensure end to end creative excellence
•    Develop concepts and creative strategies that fulfil objectives of consumer, category, concept, briefs
•    Drive creation of quick-turn, trend-right, and consumer relevant product to fill market or account needs
•    Lead a culture of collaboration, respect, and inclusion within design team and cross-functional counterparts
•    Drive collaboration across multiple categories and business units 
•    Maintain awareness and understanding of target consumer/market translating key insights through a brand lens 
•    Translate market or account need into brand-right volume-driving product 
•    Work with seasonal color palette to create compelling color assortments that fit within the greater brand offering
•    Review and approve production stages of creative execution
•    Maximise results within given budget (FOB targets) and timeframes
•    Create detailed and precise 2D and 3D tech packs
•    Work on multiple development calendars within a season (up to 4)
•    Build 3D concept representation, 3D assets, digital product information for an accurate development and decision-making process
•    Present and communicate concept/designs with clarity and impact, effectively selling in ideas to a variety of stakeholders including sales reps, account buyers, and brand partners/athletes.
•    Play an active role in account partnerships including sell-in meetings and buyer interactions
•    Maintain awareness of sell-through, bookings, and market feedback to identify opportunities for future product
•    Participate in creation of seasonal and long-term Creative Direction strategies 
•    Identify opportunities of improvement and change, and initiate own proposals/projects

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

•    Advanced knowledge of end-to-end apparel creation process from initial sketch to garment production
•    Advanced level execution in Adobe Illustrator and CLO 3D (or similar 3D software) required
•    Strong 3D skills and knowledge of virtual tools required
•    Advanced presentation skills with a strong ability to create impactful visuals and engage others through storytelling, insight, and passion for the product 
•    Strong understanding of wholesale environment including retail floor space (i.e. table programs vs wall assortments), account distribution, etc.
•    Fluent in English (spoken and written)
•    IT skills:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•    Undergraduate level Design education or combination thereof 
•    Solid education and advanced experience in the creative development of communication tools
•    At least 6-8 years’ experience in Sporting Goods/Fashion Industry or Design on managerial level
•    Proven experience with the entire design process (project scope and time planning, design steps, production/execution of design solution, pre-press processes)
•    Passion for adidas and its mission
