Sr. Data Analyst

Purpose

The Sr. Data Analyst, NAM Data & Analytics (DNA) Business Insights is responsible for supporting adidas North America’s business functions as an expert on data topics, analytics, and technology. The role will be part of the team that drive and enhance the reporting and data visualization portfolio, dissecting and structuring a wide range of complex business problems, extracting and analysing data from a variety of sources, utilizing facts to derive conclusions, and packaging complex analytical findings into communications that are intended to inform and influence decision making through data. 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with and influence business partners to create or modify reports, dashboards, planning templates and other data and insights solutions to meet the needs of a dynamic business, with emphasis on action-oriented data and analytics which facilitate and improve decision-making
  • Continually seek out improvements through data and ensure our data platforms, tools, and solutions (e.g. reports, dashboards, forecasting templates) are standardized and utilize adidas’ best practices
  • Apply business knowledge to ensure data is accurate, valid, timely, and clean
  • Create and manage data and report distribution processes that are efficient, timely, and user-friendly
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes through the existing Business Insights tech stack, DBMS, and data architecture, recommending and pioneering change when adequate
  • Partner with Tech and across the DNA team to ensure optimum data availability and stability, and to identify and fix issues regarding data transfer, storage, retrieval, and calculation
  • Implement latest technology and best practices regarding data architecture, modelling, and availability
  • Build partnerships and idea sharing with other members of the Global and Market DNA teams, collaborating on the creation of value-adding solutions
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects as required
  • Partner with 3rd-party vendors and other external partners as required
  • Act as a data change-agent

 

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven success in creating and maintaining databases, data integrity, data flows, and data storage in an enterprise database management system
  • Expertise in creating reports and analysis that directly impact decision making at the senior management level (CEO, CFO)
  • Skilled in leading influential projects with peers, business partners, and senior managers
  • Ability to effectively present information both orally and in written form and respond to questions from senior management, managers, stakeholders, cross-functional business leaders, and peers
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the following areas:
  • BI, Data Exploration & Visualization Tools
    • Power BI
  • Data Architecture & Modelling concepts in the context of Datawarehouse, Data Lake and/or Lakehouse
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • MS Excel, Power Query
  • Work experience in Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (JIRA, Confluence or similar)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and define problems, to collect and interpret data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to find a solution
  • Ability to think cross-functionally, join data from various sources, and draw meaningful conclusions/develop innovative solutions
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that requires a growth mindset, appetite for continuous learning, and embracing a feedback culture
  • Ability to work independently under little guidance on several projects simultaneously and be self-directed while working under tight deadlines

  • At adidas we offer a Hybrid work policy which requires attendance in the office Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday each week. For work requiring a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation, in-office attendance is required even on Friday

 

Qualifications (Minimum required education and experience):

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, concentration in one of the following, Business, MIS, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent relevant job experience
  • 5-7 years proven experience in several of the following areas: data analytics, data wrangling, database management, finance, and information technology
  • Good understanding of retail math, and key business drivers preferred
  • Understands data visualization and exploration concepts, and how to tell stories through data
