Director EFC Operations (m/f/d)

PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION

 

The EFC (eCom fulfilment Center – EFC), situated near Osnabruck, Germany, is the key European warehouse for adidas Group, responsible for eCom deliveries to all Europe for our major brands including adidas. The EFC will handle the European eCom Volume with up to 45mio pcs.

 

The Director DC Operations will drive the achievement of all deliveries to the agreed Service levels so as to meet or exceed customer expectations and will need to operate the EFC in a highly effective and efficient way with a well-trained, motivated team. The Director EFC Operations will also strategically develop the warehouse (equipment and processes) to cope with future growth and customer requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Operational Leadership:

  • Decide, manage and own actual and todays processes in the EFC
  • Lead and manage the team covering Inbound, Picking and Packing, VAS application, Outbound
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain a system for identification, evaluation of team productivity rates utilizing up-to-date systems tools and reports. 
  • Communicate effectively with all Teams within the Campus North ensuring that short term targets are achieved and necessary long term improvements are shared and aligned.
  • Driving organizational changes to cope with future growth and customer expectations to be most effective and efficient

 

Financial KPI and Budget responsibility:

  • Support and drive budgets with GFF for the area of responsibility with full budget ownership
  • Ensure that all variable and fix costs are reflected in budget, forecasts and reviews
  • Plan and drive budgets and cost efficiency projects with GFF for the full campus north including all variable costs and fix costs for the area of responsibility
  • Work closely with GFF to ensure effective financial KPI

 

Productivity and Service SLAs:

  • Work closely with the eCom Team / other key Teams, understanding forecasted volumes and priorities and organising and motivating all DC staff to achieve on time delivery of all customer orders.
  • Effectively manage shift patterns and number of staff employed through increasing / reducing temporary staff employed in a timely manner so as to achieve both customer service levels and productivity targets (cost budgets).
  • Drive capacity meetings to plan future piece prices and productivities.

 

HR, Health&Safety & Works Council:

  • Manage shift systems up to a full 24/7 operation and plan staff according to demand. Manage staffing for Campus North in a 24/7 operation with up to 480 Operators
  • Align and agree with works council on shift models, personal changes, hiring’s and all topics which needs alignment with works council
  • Manage the relationship with temp agency with HR
  • Drive, manage and improve working condition standards in close collaboration with HR
  • Ensure to have good controls in place to provide a healthy and safe place of work for all employees. This to include several key DC staff to have responsibility in this area, to work closely with the Health and Safety Specialist and take care that all staff is suitably trained on all health and safety matters

 

Lean:

  • Support & drive lean principles to optimize processes and to focus on key customer requirements
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to fulfil customer needs while improving compliance, minimizing operating cost, and effecting greater customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee a good Training process of all staff at induction but also on going so as to achieve a high performance for both productivity and safety.
  • Drive and manage the constant improvement of all warehouse processes as well as changes in material handling equipment
  • Responsibility of running the EFC in a harmonized way by driving constant improvements

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS 

  • Key internal contacts covering all flows out of EFC especially key managers/directors from other departments, IT management, Sales Management of all Business Units supported.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in a key management position in the FMCG sector within a highly automated, major distribution centre with major flows across many markets, achieving high standards of service and efficiency.
  • Understanding of key interfaces between business systems and warehouse management systems.
  • Understanding warehouse control system would be an advantage
  • Experience with dealing with business management from European markets and important Customer relationships.
  • Number of years of management experience and of leading a large team, ideally in a DC environment.
  • Project Management skills
  • Good understanding of customers (including retail store and E Commerce) needs
  • Fluent in German and English languages both written and verbal

 

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • 10 years related experience in leading and managing huge warehouses  
  • Relevant Logistics qualifications
  • At least eight years of relevant Management experience
