Director Distribution Center

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Build up DC capability, capacity and flexibility to provide superior service to the market.

Operate a highly effective and efficient Distribution Center with a well trained, motivaded workforce to meet or exceed customers' expectations, satisfy business requirements and meet financial targets, whilst ensuring cost control within agreed budget.     
   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the warehouse team covering Inbound, Picking and Packing, VAS application, Outbound, Returns and Maintenance activities by managing those activities through a 3PL.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Operations Director and other key function managers such as Customer Service, Inbound Management, Order Fulfillment, understanding forecasted volumes, priorities and organizing & motivating all DC staff to achieve sales targets and on time delivery of all customer orders.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to remedy customer needs while improving compliance, minimizing operating cost, and effecting greater customer satisfaction.  
     
  • Support 3PL on effectively managing shift patterns and number of staff employed through increasing / reducing temporary staff employed in a timely manner so as to achieve both customer service levels and productivity targets.
  • Ensure inventory integrity is maintained through the execution by team of effective cycle counting, written departmental procedures, and the strict adherence of established procedures utilizing up-to-date systems by guaranteeing 3PL standards.
  • Responsible to define and to secure DC Budget control and compliance. 
  • Lead all kinds of DC projects – new facilities, facility expansion, new systems implementation. 
     
  • Supports 3PL on developing, coordinating, and maintaining a system for identification, evaluation of team and employee productivity rates utilizing up-to-date systems tools and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with commercial teams and key customers to develop and/or enhance supply chain solutions.
  • Guarantee a proper operating rhythm with 3PL (daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly).
     
  • Guarantee revised routine from 3PL on maintenance plans for all Material Handling Equipment within the DC and ensure this is complied with at all times. 
  • Provide coaching and guidance to staff in the DC to achieve high performance.  Oversee a good training process at induction and on going so as to achieve higher engagement and low attrition indexes.
  • Ensure the site has good controls in place to provide a healthy and safe place of work for all staff. 


Key Relationships:

  • 3rd party logistics provider.
  • Key internal contacts covering managers from other SCM departments -Order Fulfillment, Inbound Management-, Tech,  Management of Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Human Resources, among others.
  • Relevant management at key customers


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess a strong set of skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience.
  • Broad & deep knowledge in own functional area, combining with broad knowledge of other areas.
  • Communication, Persuasion, Leadership, People Management, Performance Management, 3PL Management are key for success.
  • End to end Supply Chain experience is a plus.
