Assistant Designer, Kids
About the Role
In this role, you will support the design and development for kids apparel that translating trends and adidas brand vision into beautiful, functional, and commercially successful apparel for kids. You will collaborate closely with product development, product merchandising teams to bring your designs from concept to reality, ensuring our collections with a deep understanding of kids’ needs and satisfaction from customers.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Concept Development
- Assist in designing a variety of product types in kids apparel, including tops, bottoms, outwears ,down/padded jackets, and seasonal layering pieces
- Translate design ideas into sketches, CADs, color-ups, and basic tech packs for development teams
- Participate in fabric, trim, and color selection, with attention to performance properties and visual impact
- Collaborate with senior designers to build cohesive story-telling
Trend, Sport & Consumer Insight
- Research sport, athleisure, and lifestyle trends across global and local markets
- Track developments both in functional & lifestyle materials
- Monitor fashion trends in silhouette, proportion, and color that can elevate and sharpen kids’ products
Project Execution & Collaboration
- Support seasonal design execution in line with the product calendar
- Work closely with Product Development, Product Merchandising, and Sourcing teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-aligned
- Participate in sample reviews, fittings, and performance-related feedback, supporting continuous refinement
- Maintain clear and organized design files throughout the development process

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years of apparel design experience, preferably in outdoor products, performance sportswear, or fashion-functional apparel.
- Background or strong interest in outdoor products design is required.
- Understanding of garment construction, fit for movement, and functional materials.
- Portfolio demonstrating design sensibility, functional thinking, and product versatility.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Basic working proficiency in English; Mandarin is required.
