Y-3 Senior Buying Manager GCA

Role Overview 
The Senior Buying Manager for Y3 leads the end-to-end buying strategy for the category across the region, driving a consumer centric, trend relevant, and commercially balanced assortment that elevates Y3’s position within the luxury sportswear space. This role requires strong strategic vision, deep product knowledge, and a sharp eye for trends that can translate into actionable product input to influence global product creation. The ideal candidate understands the luxury and designer landscape, brings strong commercial acumen, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Assortment Strategy & Seasonal Buying

  • Lead the seasonal buying process end-to-end, ensuring a consumer focused and commercially balanced assortment for Y3.
  • Translate global brand direction into regionally relevant product & GTM strategies.
  • Build range frameworks across apparel, footwear, and accessories with clear SKU efficiency and assortment balance.
  • Identify key stories, franchises, and hero items that drive brand heat and commercial impact.
  • Apply luxury buying principles in curation, depth planning, and marketplace segmentation. 

 2. Product & Consumer Insight

  • Track market trends, luxury/streetwear shifts, and competitive assortments to strengthen product relevance.
  • Use consumer insights, sell-through data, and marketplace feedback to influence future product development.
  • Conduct market visits and competitor shop throughs; travel to Europe twice a year for Men’s Fashion Week to gather trends and product insights.  

3. Cross Functional Leadership 

  • Act as the main link between Y3 business leadership, commercial teams, global merchandising, retail operations, and supply chain teams. 
  • Represent the Business Unit in go-to-market milestones, range reviews, and leadership sessions. 
  • Provide strategic guidance to HK/TW and collaborate with local Y3 retail and marketing teams. 
  • Drive alignment with retail, eCommerce, wholesale, and key marketplace partners on seasonal assortment direction and priorities. 
  • Drive retail operations excellence by partnering closely with retail teams to support product knowledge download, elevate instore selling capabilities, and ensure frontline alignment with seasonal priorities.  

4. Business Performance & Optimization

  • Lead monthly business reviews including sell-through performance.
  • Identify in-season opportunities, manage replenishment, and mitigate slow moving inventory.
  • Collaborate with planning to achieve accurate forecasts aligned with financial goals.

5. Brand Elevation & Marketplace Excellence

  • Ensure assortments reflect Y3’s unique positioning at the intersection of fashion and sport. 
  • Strengthen marketplace differentiation with premium curation and franchise leadership. 
  • Work closely with local and global marketing teams to ensure GCA specific needs are reflected and integrated into seasonal marketing plans.
  • Partner with marketing and retail to deliver elevated seasonal executions.

Key Skills & Experience 

  • 8–10+ years of buying or merchandising experience within luxury, designer, or premium fashion brands.
  • Strong product sensibility across apparel, footwear, and accessories.
  • Proven success in assortment building, range curation, and data driven business analysis.
  • Experience working cross functionally with marketing, merchandising, planning, and retail teams.
  • Experience in retail merchandising, retail operations, and CRM is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of China market’s consumers, economic environment and commercial needs.
  • Ability to navigate fast paced, complex matrixed environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Passion for fashion, streetwear, and sport inspired luxury.
  • Ability to travel 15-20% of the time.
