Senior Tax Specialist
Purpose: The overall objective of the Corporate Tax team is to create value for the global enterprise, business units, and shareholders by maximizing corporate profitability through minimizing the corporate tax burden and ensuring tax compliance requirements are met. This role involves tax compliance and planning, researching and analyzing tax regulations, and assisting in tax audits. It requires a deep understanding of tax laws and an ability to develop strategies to optimize and defend tax positions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and compile data for our tax advisors to file our monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns including but not limited to Sales and Use Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, WA Business & Occupation Tax, Property Tax, Regulatory Fees, and business license applications and renewals
- Prepare miscellaneous tax returns and reports including but not limited to New York City Commercial Rent Tax, Ohio/Oregon Commercial Activities Tax, Portland Clean Energy Surcharge, California Tourism Assessment, Chicago Non-Titled Use Tax, Bureau of Economic Affairs & Census Surveys,
- Compile and review data for informational tax reporting – Form 1099s and Form 1042s
- Prepare, maintain, and organize supporting tax workpapers for our indirect tax compliance including tax notices resolution and managing all required tax compliance deadlines
- Support state sales/use/property tax audits including gathering requested information, defending and supporting tax calculations, negotiating payment and resolution, and making process recommendations based on findings
- Develop and implement process improvements across all indirect tax reporting functions, including refinements to current processes and workpapers, as well as utilizing technology to improve and enhance workflow
- Submit journal entries to the Global Business Services (GBS) team to properly account for tax accruals and payments
- Perform monthly general ledger tax account reconciliations and resolve any issues or differences
- Initiate wire payments for our tax payments accurately and timely
- Process weekly check runs as well as Ad hoc check runs
- Maintain current knowledge base of sales/use/property tax laws and trends
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company
- Conduct thorough tax research to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Assist in tax planning and identify areas for tax optimization
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to resolve tax issues
- Assist Corporate tax team with miscellaneous projects when needed

- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- At adidas we offer a Hybrid work policy which requires attendance in the office Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday each week. For work requiring a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation, in-office attendance is required even on Friday.
Requisite Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Accounting and/or Taxation
- 1-4 years of accounting experience in a large corporate setting, tax experience is a plus
