Senior Manager Business Insights
PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION
As the leader of the Data & Insights function for the defined Cluster / Key Account, this role is to set the strategy of how & where the Insights team should focus their efforts across reporting and the extraction of actionable insights from data. This role will be expected to utilise strong technical skillsets (Excel & PowerBI), alongside excellent analytical abilities, commercial acumen and communication skills, to provoke & influence decision making amongst peers and senior stakeholder – With the ultimate objective of accelerating Net Sales, Sell-out & Market Share, this role is a critical pivot point between sell-in and sell-out, to ensure supply is closely aligned with consumer demand.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a lead point of contact for all topics relating to insight generation, data reporting & analytics amongst stakeholder across the business for the defined accounts.
- Act as a key stakeholder to business leaders, to provoke, collaborate & influence decision making – Combining data driven analysis (Self created, and via your team) & your strong ability to communicate said analysis to create positive impact.
- Utilise your strong leadership to ensure an efficient and effective deployment of team resources across a large group of accounts / stakeholders. Ensuring your team & wider stakeholders are clear on SLA’s and these are being maintained / respected.
- Liaise directly with the Business Reporting function to ensure fit for purpose reporting is being created based on business needs, with fair SLA’s agreed and maintained.
- Be a strong advocate, and active driving force towards the automation of reporting (Via PowerBI)
- Lead a team who own, the facilitation of a weekly trade for the relevant key accounts, focused on providing meaningful & actionable insights to key stakeholders
- Lead the creation of regular sell-out (To consumer) forecasting, market share modelling & scenario planning. Utilising the output to influence net sales (to retailer) planning, driving a demand led approach, and healthy inventory positions.
- Pro-actively identify net sales risks / opportunities, and execute deep dive analysis to support & influence business decision making via clear communication to senior stakeholders.
- Strong & pro-active contribution, in a leading data & insights capacity, to wider total marketplace projects at a category level (Category ‘World Cups’)
- Engage directly with external partners (alongside sales counter parts), during key selling milestones and commercial reviews. Using Data, insights and analysis to drive joint business planning / alignment, execute opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Provide directly, or actively support your team in the creation of, product assortment driven analysis to support each individual account in go to market milestones.
- Foster a culture of high performance across direct reports and wider teams – with accuracy, prioritization and actionable insight generation as key competencies. Ensuring all performance management milestones are executed to a high level, exceptional results are recognised and underperformance is addressed effectively.
- Key focus on talent identification, development and coaching, to enable the next generation of insights leaders.
- Actively collaborate with local & European peers, across different accounts & functions to drive synergies & best practise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strategic, ‘big picture’ thinker, with outstanding analytical skills, commercial acumen & critical thinking ability
- Great communicator, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders using data driven insights
- Experienced people manager with a track record of leading & developing high performing teams
- Solution oriented, with a focus on results.
- High level of interest and experience in dealing with large data sets & proactively modelling / deriving insights from said data.
- Advanced excel skills, and extensive experience in spreadsheet analysis.
- Experience creating and manipulating dashboard visualisation tools (PowerBI current adidas option) preferred. Otherwise a keen interest in this field and a desire to learn.
- Strong growth mindset, with a track record of active development and desire to continue progressing.
- Highly motivated self-starter, with excellent planning and organisation skills. Including ability to self-prioritise individual workload and direct team focuses, especially when working under pressure and against deadlines.
- Comfortable with working in an international environment
- Fluent English is necessary
REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree is preferred
- Extensive professional experience in a business insights or equivalent function which consistently uses data & insights to drive business success.
- Prior people management experience / leading a team to high performance
- Mindset: Curious, Questioning, agile, pro-active & action oriented
- Experience in working with within the sporting goods / fashion retail industry is preferred.
