Assistant Manager, Forklift
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Assist the Inbound and Outbound Operations Manager in executing all equipment-related tasks, such as put away and retrieval, to meet established service levels and consistently exceed customer expectations. Provide effective leadership to ensure that the team achieves efficiency, cost, and Service Level Agreement (SLA) KPI targets. Supervise staff training to maintain strict compliance with company safety policies (EHS), thereby promoting a safe working environment. Champion the adoption of lean logistics principles and industry best practices throughout the distribution center.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Collaborate with the AM of DC planning, wave release & monitoring, and other IB & OB AMs to optimize task sequencing, balancing manpower and equipment based on varying truck workloads. Ensure inbound cargo is efficiently placed in the correct locations and outbound tasks are fulfilled timely, maximizing equipment utilization and meeting delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors to establish and oversee regular maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with agreed standards.
- Manage the forklift team to complete put away and retrieval operations; liaise with IB & OB teams to prioritize equipment usage, guaranteeing timely and accurate task completion. Partner with the MHE manager for equipment repair and maintenance, maintaining effective cost control.
- Support the DCIB senior manager in setting practical and achievable team KPI targets, driving the team toward operational excellence.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain systems for identifying and evaluating team and employee productivity using MA tools and reports.
- Possess strong experience in distribution center processes, with a commitment to enhancing team efficiency and minimizing costs.
- Provide guidance and oversight to the equipment team to ensure both equipment and staff safety.
- Foster team development, cultivating an efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective workforce.
- Lead and manage staff in understanding and implementing company policies, especially EHS guidelines, to create a safe work environment for all.
- Responsible for KPIs: Put Away/Retrieval On-Time Ratio, Put Away/Retrieval Productivity, Equipment Repair and Maintenance Costs, Team Management.
The responsibilities are not limited to the above, the job holder will also follow other work assigned by his/her immediate supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A university degree or higher is required.
- Candidates must have 3–5 years of experience in warehouse operations; experience in an automated or semi-automated distribution centre is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English is necessary.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is preferred.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Applicants should demonstrate a stable personality, a customer-driven orientation, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and MS Project is required.
