Manager Space Planning
PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANISATION:
The Manager role is responsible for leading retail space planning, and project management activities to support business growth and elevate brand presence. This role oversees the successful execution of new store openings, major renovations, relocations, and key brand retail projects while ensuring alignment with brand standards, quality requirements, budget expectations, and project timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management
- Lead end-to-end store development projects, including new store openings, major renovations, relocations, and strategic retail initiatives.
- Manage retail space planning and construction projects for street-level stores and large-scale retail developments.
- Lead and manage the Interior Design Process (IDP), coordinating with designers, landlords, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate construction risks, with a particular focus on street-level store projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure construction quality, timeline compliance, and successful project delivery.
- Drive new vendor development and manage vendor performance to support business growth and operational excellence.
- Manage and supervise outsourced store planning partners in the development of retail layout plans, ensuring all adidas retail development guidelines and brand standards are strictly followed.
- Work closely with the NTP and Finance teams to plan, monitor, and control CAPEX and OPEX budgets, ensuring compliance with all applicable company policies and financial guidelines.
System and Processes
- Own fit-out budget planning, forecasting, cost control, and financial management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs and implement risk mitigation actions to ensure budget compliance.
- Manage tendering, contractor selection, and procurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, landlord requirements, local regulations, and safety standards.
- Lead new concept implementation training and ensure vendors fully understand brand requirements.
- Establish project tracking, reporting, documentation, and post-project evaluation processes.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Real Estate, Retail Operations, Finance, Marketing, Procurement, GCA Store Design Teams.
External: Landlords, Developers, Design Consultants, Contractors, Vendors, Government Authorities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of retail store development, construction management, and retail fit-out execution.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Interior Design Process (IDP).
- Excellent project management, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced retail environment.

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience leading retail space planning and project management.
- Proven experience managing new store openings, major renovations, and store relocations.
- Experience overseeing own retail street-level stores and large-scale retail development projects.
- Proven track record of fit-out budget ownership, financial management, and risk mitigation.
- Experience developing new vendors, managing contractor performance, and delivering new concept rollouts.
- Experience in international retail, sports, fashion, or consumer brands preferred.
- Good written and oral skills both in English and Mandarin
