Director, TJDC

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:


As the Head of Distribution Center (DC) Operations for TJDC, you hold full accountability for building and leading a best-in-class distribution network that powers our business in China. Your mission is to drive operational excellence, build scalable capacity and capabilities, and deliver superior service to all customers and consumers. You will ensure the achievement of all key performance targetsincluding UPHDC productivity,  OTIF (On-Time In-Full), financial budgets, and cost efficiency—while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer-centricity across the DC organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Strategic Leadership & Performance Management

  • Define and communicate the DC vision, mission, and strategic goals aligned with market business objectives.
  • Establish, monitor, and drive accountability for all DC performance KPIs across service, productivity, quality, and cost etc.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the DC strategy, including capacity planning, capability building, and the evolution of service models (Wholesale, Retail, E-com, Returns etc.) to meet current and future business needs.

 

2. End-to-End Operations Excellence

  • Own and optimize all warehousing processes and systems (e.g., WMS, ERP) to ensure seamless product flow from receipt to dispatch.
  • Ensure flawless order fulfillment (OTIF) and provide strategic feedback to planning teams on resource optimization (Labor, MHE, space).
  • Oversee all operational facets: inbound/put-away, slotting, replenishment, picking, packing, returns processing, and inventory control.
  • Champion a culture of safety, ensuring full compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards.

 

3. Financial & Commercial Stewardship

  • Own the DC P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and rigorous cost management to meet financial targets.
  • Conduct ongoing cost-benefit analyses and lead initiatives to drive productivity and cost efficiency across the network.
  • Optimize labor planning and utilization to balance service performance with operational cost.

 

4. Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing DC management team and workforce.
  • Develop and execute talent development plans, succession strategies, and skill-building programs to future-proof the organization.
  • Foster a strong customer and consumer-oriented mindset throughout the operations team.

 

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Benchmark performance against industry leaders to identify and implement best practices.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to solve complex operational challenges.
  • Drive innovation in processes and technology to achieve operational excellence, benchmark performance against global adidas DC network.

 

Key Relationships:

  • Internal: PS, Planning, IBD, OBF, Procurement, HR, IT, Finance, Commercial teams, GD
  • External: Key Customers, 3PL Providers, Equipment/Service Vendors, Government and Regulatory Authorities.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to communicate, influence, and build trusted relationships with senior business leaders and key external stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic and project management skills, with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to motivate large, diverse teams (both salaried and hourly workforce) and collaborate across functions.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends and the agility to adapt operations to dynamic business requirements.
  • A data-driven mindset, using benchmarking and analytics to continuously improve service, productivity, and cost competitiveness.

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in warehouse/distribution center management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing a large-scale, automated/semi-automated distribution facility.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a large, complex workforce comprising both professional and operational staff.
  • Full professional proficiency in both Mandarin and English.
