Assistant Designer Accessories - Golf
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
This role will be a key member of an experienced design team working alongside the apparel and footwear teams to build a cohesive Adidas golf collection specific to Japan and Korea and Asia market. You'll utilize your advanced design skills to create original, innovative designs that appropriately reflect the Adidas design philosophy and help adidas Golf hit its mission of being the most progressive golf brand in the world. We are looking for a highly proactive, self-driven team player who can elevate our design process with strong technical expertise and a shared vision for the adidas brand's future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Role Focus: Dedicate primary focus to golf bag and accessories design (approx. 95%), with occasional support in apparel design as a versatile team player.
- Proactive Execution: Act as an independent, forward-thinking contributor who efficiently manages multiple styles while fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Brand Guardianship: Deeply understand the adidas brand identity and actively apply this vision to ensure all designs align with the brand's strategic direction and premium standards.
- Technical Excellence: Apply robust technical knowledge of accessory construction, materials, and manufacturing to deliver premium quality and ensure the smooth execution of strict seasonal timelines.
- Global Alignment: Work closely with design teams in Tokyo and Carlsbad to shape the Asia category offering while aligning with global strategies.
- Design Direction: Collaborate on seasonal design direction, including story, material, color, graphic, and inspirational imagery that meets the product brief and overall design strategy.
- Market Insight: Be insight-driven and actively lead the research of market conditions and trends from a design perspective as related to golf, sharing insights dynamically with cross-functional teams.
- Development Handoff: Submit comprehensive and accurate design packages (tech packs, CAD drawings, color/material call-outs, DMT upload) for the development process, and conduct timely product reviews to make appropriate technical decisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret design briefs, technical specification manuals, and brand guidelines.
- Ability to write clear design summaries and professional correspondence. Ability to present ideas effectively before cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Ability to solve practical design and production problems, proactively dealing with a variety of variables in the development process.
- Ability to accurately interpret and execute instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or tech-pack form.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- Brand Vision & Alignment: A profound understanding of the adidas brand heritage, identity, and future direction, with a passion for driving the brand forward.
- Golf Expertise (Mandatory): A deep, authentic understanding of the golf industry, sport culture, and performance needs is required.
- Language Proficiency: Efficient English communication skills are sufficient. We highly prioritize exceptional design capabilities and technical expertise over advanced language fluency.
- Professional Mindset: A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to take ownership of design details without requiring micro-management.
- Education & Experience: Design degree and relevant work experience in the branded performance apparel industry. 5-10 years of related experience.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of accessory design, color theory, materials, and construction. Must be fully proficient in Adobe CC design applications. Graphic design, textile print, and 3D design experience are a plus.
