Senior Manager Health, Safety, Environment & Energy & Workplace Management

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Lead the Workplace Management and HSEE (Health, Safety, Environment & Energy) agenda for Japan, ensuring safe, sustainable, compliant, and inspiring workplaces that support business performance and employee experience. Own strategic planning, governance, operational excellence, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement across workplace operations, health & safety, environmental management, and employee experience programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the HSEE strategy, governance, and operational execution for Japan, ensuring compliance with local regulations, global standards, and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
  • Own all Health & Safety programs across corporate offices and retail locations, including risk assessments, compliance audits, incident investigations, corrective action management, safety committees, and mandatory training programs.
  • Partner with business leaders to drive a strong safety culture and ensure consistent implementation of Health & Safety standards across all workplaces and stores.
  • Lead Retail Health & Safety initiatives, including store safety compliance, contractor management, workplace inspections, incident reporting, ergonomic assessments, and mitigation of operational risks impacting employees and consumers.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity programs, including evacuation drills, crisis management protocols, disaster response plans, and workplace resilience initiatives for office and retail operations.
  • Drive environmental, sustainability, and energy management programs, supporting decarbonization objectives through performance monitoring, energy efficiency initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Establish and monitor HSEE KPIs, compliance reporting, and management review processes, ensuring transparency, accountability, and data-driven decision making.
  • Oversee HSEE-related audits, inspections, certifications, and regulatory engagements, ensuring timely closure of findings and continuous improvement of compliance performance.
  • Provide leadership oversight for Workplace Management operations, ensuring delivery of high-quality facility services, employee experience programs, and workplace projects through the Workplace Management team.
  • Manage HSEE and Workplace budgets, vendor performance, and operational effectiveness, identifying opportunities for risk reduction, service improvement, and cost optimization.

 

  • Lead and develop the Workplace Management team, setting clear priorities, driving performance, and ensuring successful execution of workplace and HSEE initiatives.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional HSEE experience and workplace mgmt. in a global organization.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and developing large, diverse teams.
  • Strong knowledge of regional energy markets, emerging trends, and health & safety regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental and H&S reporting frameworks.
  • Deep expertise in corporate sustainability, from environmental footprint methodologies to disclosure and reporting standards.
  • Language: Japanese & English
