Assistant Manager, Allocation & Buying

Purpose:   
The Assistant Manager, Retail Allocation & Buying manages retail inventory flow and creates store-specific distribution strategies to maximize individual store sales and SKU productivity. Collaborate with stores, buying and planning to optimize in-store sell-through guided by the principals to increase profitability and conversion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory flow to stores by SKU while considering category performance and consumer demands.
  • Analyze sales trends and inventory levels and execute allocation recommendations based on climate, seasonality, store capacity, etc.
  • Lead category analysis to proactively plan, react, communicate, and take appropriate action to meet and exceed sales and margin budgets. Utilize analysis to identify profit opportunities.
  • Partner with Buying Manager to implement store category strategies and collaborate on stock optimization to achieve highest sell through.
  • Collaborate with the Buyers and Planners to recommend markdowns with an exit strategy for aged SKUs to prepare for seasonal transition.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain, Demand Planning, BDC to ensure key product launches and store opening stock is arriving on time. Manage inventory flow to stores on specific timelines to ensure maximization of labour cost.
  • Create and analyze item replenishment to ensure appropriate stock to sales ratios based on localized selling patterns (sales trend, events, promotions, sizing, etc.)
  • Provide quantitative analysis to support Buying, Planning and Store Planning decisions both pre-season and in-season.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in software applications such as MS Office especially conversant with MS Excel
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively interpret sales data and a thorough understanding of retail math.
  • Understanding of retail operations and consumer buying patterns to help make informed allocation decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage a wide variety of relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from stores, group managers, and key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity accessing data from a database structure. SAP experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power Bi, Tableau, etc would be a plus.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and create reporting tools from data.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in planning, merchandising or allocations.
  • Degree with focus on Business Administration, Merchandising or related business functions or equivalent related experience
